The vet told me to watch her weight because the chance of her gaining weight after spaying is big (she will be spayed this august).
I give my dogs Hills Science Plan. The amount I give them is according to what they advice (what is written on the package).
I cut back on treats and started walking more often with them, and now that the weather is getting better I started running with them (not much, 30 minutes more or less and with pauses in between).
But her weight isn't changing. Are there any tips on what I can do to help her now and after she gets spayed?
Thanks in advance |
Are you feeding the amount for their current weight or the amount for the weight that your vet wants her to be?
Jada packed on an extra 2 lbs when we first adopted her. She came to us underweight at 4lbs 8ozs and our vet wanted her to get aroung 5lb 5 ozs. I over did it and she got up to 7lbs
I started adding frozen salt free green beans to her kibble and cutting her portion by 1/3 for the weight I wanted her to reach. It did take over a year to get that extra weight off, but the green beans work. I also don't give any treats other than green beans or low cal veggies she likes. So far she has kept the weight steady at 5lb 5oz for two years now.
