I was going to mention the above (bolded). I don't pluck Mandie's ears, but I have been told that many do pluck the inside ear hairs because they tend to hold moisture and can lead to infections. I am super careful about her ears when I wash her and they are the absolute first thing I blow dry when done bathing. If she ever does start having ear issues though, I will pluck.

| You know what???? I absolutely love you all!!! You have all been so kind and you are such a blessing in my life. Thanks everyone!! Ears: Our Vet has me cleaning her ears and putting in meds (MalOtic - 15 gm.) twice each day for 10 days. I can do it the same time I give her the other meds so that will help me remember. I am to use a Q-tip (which makes me a little nervous) to clean out the "gunk", put in the medicine and let her go. The "gunk" the Vet got out of her ear was really disgusting, brown in color which just can't be good. She just had her first hair trim and our groomer pulled all the hair from both ears but I think she may have already been coming down with this since she just had her hair trimmed a day or so ago. The groomer didn't say anything though so I'm sure she didn't see anything at that time. She also showed me how to pull the hairs so I can do it myself between grooming sessions. I have a wall calendar that I write everything we do to/for her and keep track of meds that way. It works for me. Well, she had a really good nap this afternoon and I haven't seen her shaking her head and crying. She's just giving Hansel a hard time. LOL Looks like she's back to her old self again. Yeah!!

| So glad princess Sophie is feeling better!! Rosie had that gunk in her ears too...it was gross. It didn't take long for rosie to start feeling better...so hopefully before long Sophie will be in tip top shape!!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Sending prayers for your little girl, hope this clears up soon. Sometimes keeping the hair plucked in the ear canal can help the ear canal stay dryer. You can also put a little cotton ball in the ear and fold the ears down before rinsing the head. I spend extra time drying the ears after a bath with the blow dryer. With the right meds they can clear up pretty fast.

| Well, I put drops in her ear last night but I wasn't sure I got the tip of the tube far enough down her ear so...this morning I asked my DH to hold her down so I could do a better job. Well...she screamed when I tried to use the q-tip to clean out her ear and all I got was a little cream colored wax so I'm not sure I got that down her ear enough and it took us 10 minutes to get the ear drops in. Now I feel better that I got more med in her ears but I can see that this is very painful and now looking at her other ear, I think she may be getting the same thing there too. I'm calling the vet to see if I can put drops in both ears now to avoid the right ear becoming as bad as the left. I'll post to let you know what my Vet says.

| Well, I had the dickens of a time getting the ear cleaned and drops applied last night. I wasn't even sure if I got enough of the meds in. You would have thought I was killing her. I'm sure it hurst cause I have had ear aches in the past and they are very painful. I still have to put Alcohol in each ear after I shower or swim. When I went to put in the drops this morning I enlisted my DH to help hold her down. I checked the other ear first and noticed that it seemed a little pinker than usual so I need to call the vet on that. It took both of us, my DH and I, to get this done and yes she screamed the entire time. I do feel confident that I put enough medicine in her ear this morning. Called the vet and mentioned the other ear and asked if I could put drops in that one also, vet kind of giggled and asked if I was ready for that much screaming. LOL She gave the go ahead to put drops in the other ear as well after using a q-tip to clean it first. This is just so much fun! NOT! It's just that I want her to get better and not have problems like this all the time. DH and I are planning on working together to get her meds into her as required. This is just gonna be a little stressful for a while. I keep telling myself, it hurts me more than it hurts her and try to be as calm as possible. I think that's the only way it's gonna get better!! Thanks everyone for your help, concern, guidance, and support. You all are very much appreciated!!

| Praying for Princess Sophie! Poor little miss I know it hurts your heart to hear her scream. Better scream now and get it healed than have that nasty stuff stick around and have her hurting endlessly. You are such a good Mommy! Hang in there, Diane. Hugs!

| Diane- I have to tell you a little story about my two..maybe help you not feel so bad about giving the med. Im faithful about cleaning their ears. Rosie is exceptional. She holds still for anything. Ruby..just cleaning her ears the way she fights you would think Im taking all her treats and her birthdays away from her. She is a smart little bugger. So the other day when I was giving Rosie her meds (which ruby never has had) I noticed Ruby watching us and start slinking away...literally slinking. Next time I got Rosie's meds, I just showed Ruby the bottle and darned if she didn't start slinking away again. Even though she has never been hurt because of ear infection but acts like ear cleanings are killing her, Ruby has been smart enough to get what the med bottle could be for. Im sure Princess Sophie's ears hurt her but I bet anything her struggles are more so cuz she is worried its gonna hurt and that's her way of trying to convince you not to do it!

| Hi Everyone! I just wanted to update everyone on how Princess Sophie is doing after having both a UTI and ear infections. We went for her four month check up this morning and Princess Sophie received another Distemper shot. She was so brave and didn't wiggle, whine or cry. I am so very proud of her!!! What really surprised me though was that she weighed in at 3 lbs. 2 oz. At her 3 month check up she weighed in at 2 lbs. 15 oz. and at that weigh in she had almost doubled her size from her 2 month check up. I asked if something was wrong and the Vet said that she has probably hit a plateau for a time and at her next check up she may grow more or less. As long as she's eating well, drinking plenty of water, playing and all her functions are working properly then we don't need to be worried about anything. Her growth rate has just slowed down. I know that I have shared in previous posts my concern about having a puppy that is really small, we understand the concerns about health issues coinciding with puppy weight and as such are continuing to make sure she has food and fresh water all day long. For right now, she's doing great!!
