| ![]() I also use the hemostat, plus sometimes I have to use the ear powder so the hair doesn't slip. Yes, the hemostat is like tweezers, but long handle and the tweezer end is long and it curves and has ridges.

| ![]() I bought mine from Jenny, mimimomo, at her site toplinepet.com They can be helpful for putting in hair bows too.

| ![]() I can't seem to get her to hold still for almost anything. LOL The daily brushing, morning and evening, is pretty hit and miss. I have found some tangles and worked them out but trying to get her to cooperate is like trying to put a bell on a rattlesnake! LOL

| ![]() Ive only plucked my 3 kiddos ear hair a handful of times in almost 7 years and dont have any ear issues. They all have erect ears which allows for much better air flow than a floppy eared breed. On the other hand, my late Maltese and Bichon required regular ear plucking as their ears were floppy and always trapped moisture, and we dealt with ear infections, especially in my Bichon if I didnt. Inspecting your babys' ears regularly (look down into the canal ) and smelling ( know their normal scent)them will give you an indication on whether to pluck or not. Always pluck them dry! and pull fast a few hairs at a time

Only the hair that is actually coming out of the ear canal itself should be pulled. It's fairly easy to pull out w/your fingers, they come right off. If they have some wax on their ear hair, then it would be best to clean it 1st, let dry & pull out. If they have a lot of hair then it's best to use a tiny bit of ear powder & a hemostat. All the other hairs around the ear canal can be trimmed w/a blunt nosed scissor. You can take them to the vet or groomer to clean out their ears too. They shave off all the other hairs around the ear canal, since those should not be pulled, it's painful for them.

| ![]() All of this information is so helpful! I think Princess Sophie has a lot of ear hair and it will need plucking. I have also noticed her scratching her ears and one evening a few days ago, I thought one of them looked red from her scratching at it. I will be doing a more extensive inspection of her ears today and begin the process of plucking those hairs. The last thing I want is for her to have an ear infection. Thank you all again, your advice is most valued!! ![]()

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | ![]() These are the hemostats/forceps I got, only $3.60! ![]() I don't use them for ear hair, but for allll kinds of other stuff around the house whenever I need to hold something small and keep it steady or whatnot. Also helpful w/ crafts.
