Thanks for linking my site Kristin, but I don't carry hemostats anymore. You can get them @ most pet supply sites.
Only the hair that is actually coming out of the ear canal itself should be pulled. It's fairly easy to pull out w/your fingers, they come right off. If they have some wax on their ear hair, then it would be best to clean it 1st, let dry & pull out. If they have a lot of hair then it's best to use a tiny bit of ear powder & a hemostat. All the other hairs around the ear canal can be trimmed w/a blunt nosed scissor.
You can take them to the vet or groomer to clean out their ears too. They shave off all the other hairs around the ear canal, since those should not be pulled, it's painful for them.
