| Heartgard vs Revolution so i FINALLY after HOURS AND HOURS of searching online for a reliable site that's sells cheaper meds, i came across Aussiepet.com and Pet Supplies | Dog & Cat Supplies, Pet Meds | DrsFosterSmith.com Pet Products. i personally like F&S because they are a bit cheaper on some products. anyways im here to know your opinions on both medications, right now Jah'Lija is on one month supply of heartgard (only bought one month supply from the vet, they where to over priced.) and before time runs out and how i love to do things last min i thought hey why not get it done now! my vet told me that heartgard also prevents tics, fleas, etc. in most dogs so flea and tic med. it not needed UNLESS i see a flea then bring him in asap! well i heard from ALOT of people that Revolution is better because it DOES prevent the lil pest instead of playing tug of war and HOPING my pup doesn't catch pests. so what do you think heartgard or revolution? looking for a solid answers with facts and experiences. thank you all in advance!

| I prefer Revolution because it also covers mange and internal parasites in addition to heart worm, fleas, and dog ticks- Not deer ticks though that carry Lymes and other TBD. But they all get tested yearly at least off TBD and get the Lymes disease vaccine.

| I've never heard that heartguard prevented fleas and ticks. I think you or the vet meant Revolution, that protects against the heartworms, fleas, ticks, lice, ear mites, and other kinds of worms. I really like it. Because of the heartworm component, you can only get it with a prescription from the vet. I used to use Revolution but it just got so expensive for us, but I think I'm going to go back to it when I run out of what I have now.

| No my vet said it does in most dogs, not all. he never even mentioned Revolution to me heard about it thru word of mouth. also he didn't give me a prescription, he said if i was going to buy it else where (Heartgard) that they will have to give my vet office a call. Quote:

| I use Revolution, but I won't buy it online.... some products need to be kept at certain temps and I don't trust that happens when shipping cross country...

| Have used Revolution always on Cali - never had a problem. Don't know the price of the other, but I would stick with Revolution.

YT 2000 Club Member | I researsched all those meds and finally used Revolutiion. No problems with this med. You can apply it and if your dog needs a bath in a day or two you can wash them. We need to do our homework and look into the stuff we give our precious pups. That garbage that they sell in the stores is not good. Look at the ingredients, the side effects. Say a prayer and make a wise decision. I asked friends, vet techs and made several phone calls before I decided on Revolution. Vet said use Triflexis but the side effects were awful. One vet said use a Scalabor collar for fleas. Didn't like that either. Even vets make mistakes. Research the stuff and then decide. |

| Heartguard does NOT protect against fleas and ticks. Heartguard is specifically for heartworm prevention. They do have some all-in-one products but I wouldn't trust them. I use Heartguard monthly and a flea and tick medicine (such as Advantix) as needed.

| I don't want Tibbe having all those extra chemicals in him so we use Heartguard Plus monthly. If he gets other worms or something(those he's rarely around other dogs, critters), the vet can treat him for those as soon as he gets symptoms but all the preventative chemicals worry me for unknown problems they could pose. I tolerated that aspect of Interceptor because Jilly took that for years and I didn't know any better but once they stopped production, I decided to treat him just to prevent heartworms as the disease process itself and treatment for it are soooo dire.

| I used Revolution on Brandy for a few years, then got cheap and bought something at Petco because it didn't require a vet visit. Big mistake. Brandy ended up with mites, which wasn't covered by the other brand I bought. Brandy was miserable and I felt terrible. She is back on Revolution as it does covers mites as well as ticks. I won't use anything else.
