I don't want Tibbe having all those extra chemicals in him so we use Heartguard Plus monthly. If he gets other worms or something(those he's rarely around other dogs, critters), the vet can treat him for those as soon as he gets symptoms but all the preventative chemicals worry me for unknown problems they could pose. I tolerated that aspect of Interceptor because Jilly took that for years and I didn't know any better but once they stopped production, I decided to treat him just to prevent heartworms as the disease process itself and treatment for it are soooo dire.
