I've never heard that heartguard prevented fleas and ticks. I think you or the vet meant Revolution, that protects against the heartworms, fleas, ticks, lice, ear mites, and other kinds of worms. I really like it. Because of the heartworm component, you can only get it with a prescription from the vet. I used to use Revolution but it just got so expensive for us, but I think I'm going to go back to it when I run out of what I have now.
