| Trinket is just 10 weeks old. Her vet said to make sure she eats at least 6 or more times a day, and a pea sized dose of Nutrical between. No more than 3 times a day. She weighs 1.89 pounds. I gave her a little egg this morning and she loved it. She also gets a few training treats. |

| Basically with a young puppy it is you that gets trained. You have to learn that puppy's schedule and take it out often if that is where you want it to potty. Treats after a successful endeavor are very helpful. When potty training outside you need to take the puppy inside as soon as it does it's business so it knows why it was taken out to begin with. It takes a lot of repetition and patience but in time the puppy will catch on. A baby is not going to be as regular as a puppy that is 6 months old. Food and water goes though a little one rather quickly. Sometimes training a young puppy can get frustrating but don't worry. Don't give up. Enjoy your puppy. It may seem to be taking forever but truly they are only young once. You will both get through it with patience and lots of love. |

| Hi! We managed to feed our 13-week yorkie 4 times a day now. It has been 2 weeks and he is okay. Does anybody know if there is a bad subsequent behaviour of my yorkie to this? Somebody is always at home to watch for the hypoglycemia and he would "communicate" if he wants to be fed by "making noise" on his feeding bowl. Do you see anything wrong with this? This is my first yorkie puppy. Please advise. Thanks. |

Like you said , someone is always home to feed him. So if he is healthy and active i would think he should be fine.

| I agree with the others posts. Ritz is 4 months old and we always leave dry food out and fresh water 24 hours a day. We also feed him 3-4 times a day wet food depending on his energy level or how hungry he is. Ritz now weighs 2lbs 1oz at 16 weeks. Enjoy your new baby! |

| My yorkie weighs 2 lbs and 3 ozs last week (at 12 weeks of age). I don't give him other food except his dry dog food. We started attending a puppy class last week and we've been giving him his dry dog food since I don't know what treat to give him. When I asked the vet last week during his check-up about what "treat" to give him, she said just stick to the dry dog food we have been giving him and it is actually better (she said the brand I am using is actually excellent). He is a very smart dog, he can sit still now when asked. He is very energetic during his playtime. My 89-year old mom loves him so much. We love him so much! |

| And, thanks also for your quick response to my post. I've heard some people are scheduling to feed their dogs twice a day. At what age? Is that proper? |

i think you should wait till at least a year old to feed 2 times per day. a little one likes yours should eat 4 times per day if on a schedule

EXCELLENT!! It is when we dont know something, and we are too proud or ashamed to ask, that we step off in over our heads! Nothing wrong with not knowing and seeking help....not seeking help when you dont know can be lethal!
