hi, did your vet tell you she is overweight ? I am no expert but i think it is dangerous to withold food from a young puppy that is so tiny.. Why do you want to control her control her bladder? I personally think she should have all the food and water she wants unless your vet has instructed you to do otherwise

| Oh my, she is so tiny...I would definitely leave her food and water available at all times for one this small. She needs to nibble and I'm sure it's only a bite or two at a time, whenever she wants. She is just darling in your avatar picture

| A puppy this young needs to have food available at all times. What wrong with her weight? Food won't control her bladder, and never, ever withhold water from her at this age.

| Georgie was about the same size at her age and we would free feed him. Now he is 7 and he is HUGE....4lbs LOL (just kidding obviously). Believe me the free feeding when he was a puppy didn't cause any weight issues. I was more concerned with hypoglycemic episodes then I was him being overweight. She is tiny I would free feed her for a long time to come. We still leave out a little dry food out for Georgie.

Senior Yorkie Talker | I've had Jaxson for about a month now & he's 12 going on 13 weeks old. He weighs 3lbs(as of last week @ the vet) & they told me he was a good weight & with puppies (yorkies) you should really free feed them & I was told that by lots of ladies on this forum! Hope you get some advice & just wanted to let you know she is beautiful! |

Senior Yorkie Talker | As far as potty training her I've already got Jaxson house trained to go outside. I'm no fool though he could still possibly have an accident in the house but it wouldn't be his fault it'd be mine not getting him outside fast enough! I followed some tips on here plus some from my Mom who has a 3yr old Yorkie & in 2 weeks he was fully house trained. Good Luck! |

| Dont ever use a feeding schedule in such a tiny, young baby, to help with potty training! NEVER restrict the available food and water on such a tiny, young baby....especially to "control her bladder"!!!!! CONTROLLING HER BLADDER is NOT the focus at this WEIGHT and age! You have managed to become a new mommy to a tiny little girl, so "rules" that may work for a 16 week old 3-4 pound baby, dont work here! I do not advocate using a feeding schedule to regulate bladder/bowel control UNTIL around 6-8 months old AND AT LEAST 3 lbs. Tiny babies need to be able to nibble whenever they want to, or their calories and energy, and glucose level that keeps that baby running, deplete and then you MAY have low blood sugar issues to contend with.....and that can be a deadly situation. |

Well first let me start by saying my husband is a SSG in the Army & works all day long & i'm a SAHW. Jaxson is with me all day long so it may or may not work for you unless you are gonna be home most of the time. Reason we did this was because Jaxson was not liking the puppy pads AT ALL so we decided to just take him out every 30minutes - 1hr & it varies if he eats, drinks, plays, naps, or barks to let us know! I've actually have been paying close attention to his body language and it may sound strange but he has a certain walk when he needs to go #2 so I know when if he doesn't let me know that he needs to go so I take him out if I see him walking like that! 9 times outta 10 I was right & he goes as soon as I take him out! Usually though he will bark/whine to get my attention and we know to take him out! We do this all day long & he caught on very quickly! We still crate him at night in our room until he is bigger & he loves his crate! We set up the play pen though in the room so he has the option crate or his soft fluffy bed in the other area! He's never had any accidents in there & we were actually shocked by this! I keep reading how smart yorkies are & how they understand what we're saying! I'm beginning to actually believe that LOl! So hope this helps & if you have any questions just message me!
