| We were using Interceptor until the whole Novartis thing started. Speaking of which, does anyone know when it might be coming back in? The vet's office is saying that it might go as far as the end of this year, but they don't seem to have a clear answer for us. ![]() Our Liselle is currently on Heartgard plus, but it doesn't do worms like Interceptor did. The vet suggested Trifexis, but it's pricier at the vet's place so we've been looking around online. Has anyone tried this place? We've never shopped for medications online before but our vet's pricing for meds really doesn't make my wallet very chummy. Maybe I should just switch vets... |

| I use Revolution on my two and it works great, the only thing my vet said was that revolution does not deter Deer Ticks...so we watch for this ....but otherwise I love using this product, my yorkies do not have problems with it )

If you give a pup 1/2 of one, make sure the other half is dedicated to that pup so that you are sure he/she got the entire amount. It is possible that you could give 1/2 and there not be much preventative in that half. Then, if you gave 1/2 of a different one the next day the same thing could happen and he/she not get the proper dose. I hope this makes sense....

| My girls get Revolution every month year round. They have never had a problem or a reaction. I like it because it is dosed closer to their weights. I have a 3 pounder so she gets the 1-5 lbs. dose. |

| Is 800 PetMeds trustworthy for buying Hartguard Plus, if they have it?

| My daughter used 800 many, many times with great results and no complaints. It has been awhile, tho. We have BOTH removed as much chemical interference in our pets and rely on more natural remedies for flee/tick/etc. For the yard I use MOSQUITO BARRIER. Yes, it has garlic in it - but I have NOT noticed the dogs constantly licking the grass in order to ingest a dangerous or troublesome amount. The bugs are non existent immediately and the yard smelling like bread stix from olive garden isn't too terrible. I do worry about heartworm. I have had them checked and they are negative. I was given Heartguard and it has remained in the cabinet. I am one that feels medicines are temporary-and sometimes necessary. I also feel they are way overused on animals AND humans and the results are devastating. I found a very nice oil from Dr. Mercola to use on them if we find ourselves off the beaten path, just in case. I do use it on the underside of their bedding after washing, too. smells wonderful. (just do not get into eyes). I am for this as well: Nature's Sunshine Heartworm Prevention - Dog Health Report - Dog Care - Dog Health Problems Solved!

| There is no way I would ever use homeopathic heartworm preventatives. That is like playing with fire in my opinion. There is no research that has proven that these work. Heartworms can kill a pup as can the treatment for heartworms. Better to prevent them! American Heartworm Society

| my two are on Sentinel, their is a problem with mosquitoes in my area now that we have moved, so they were both tested and the results were negative for parasites and heartworm. They each take a pill once a month and so far their have been no problems. I can only get the medication from our vet and a 12 month packwas $134.00 , so every 6 months I need to go back for anther RX. it goes by weight also, and I saw they were going to give them the 11 pounds one and up, I told them my dogs are not 11 pounds , so they gave me the 10 pounds and under, which made me feel 100% better

| do you guys feel that you really need to give these meds every month or is that just a vet ploy for more $$$, anyone done any research on just giving them in the summer months or waiting longer than 30 days? |
