Make sure that when you cut them in half, you mark the other half with that pup's name. The preventative is not dispersed evenly in the Heartgard, so you have to make sure the entire amount is given.
If you give a pup 1/2 of one, make sure the other half is dedicated to that pup so that you are sure he/she got the entire amount. It is possible that you could give 1/2 and there not be much preventative in that half. Then, if you gave 1/2 of a different one the next day the same thing could happen and he/she not get the proper dose.
