| ![]() Just a quick question I am curious what everyone gives their yorkie for heartworm and flea meds. I used Heartguard Plus and Frontline but Kinder got kind of unsteady on her legs the day after the meds. She did not feel good so I called my vet. She is 5.6 pounds and I bring her in Friday for her check up. This happened two months ago and my vet suspected the Heartguard Plus. Also she goes crazy with the Frontline so I will not put that on her anymore. She is fine now but I am afraid to use those brands ; any suggestions? Susan Also my past yorkie Keally had problems with Heartguard so she was put on a Virbac brand and did well. |

| ![]() Sheldon is on interceptor for heartworm and K9 advantix II for fleas ,etc. No side effects what so ever. When we 1st got him the vet gave us a welcome pack that included one pill of Heartguard plus. She said I could cut it in 1/2 because it was for 5 to 25 lbs. dogs and he was so tiny. But when you cut a pill in 1/2 you take the risk of giving him one 1/2 of pill that contains less medication or vice versa so he could not be 100% protected. Both time he took the pill he vomited a little several times and he hated the flavor of the pill too. I read many people used interceptor and gave it a go, the pill is so tiny and not only he took it with no problem he didn't have any reactions to the med. Good luck with Kinder! |

| ![]() I use Revolution on my dogs and cats... for heatworm prevention and flea control. I like it because it is only one chemical, not two products or a combination. I also use it on my Liver Shunt dog... she's never had a problem with it. I measure the doses out according to their weights (my vet did the math, lol) and apply topically monthly, and every 6 weeks for my LS dog. Also it can be washed off after only 2 hours. PS: To anyone using two products... it's safer to apply them on different days, preferably two weeks apart.

| ![]() Mine take Sentinel monthly and then 2 1/2 weeks later they get comfortits. I have had problems with Heart Guard in the past, as well as the Topical with reactions. This happened to one of mine that has since gone to Rain Bow Bridge. Since then I have never used these products again.

| ![]() I use Sentinel 6 months and Revolution 6 months. I want to be sure there is no chance of anyone developing a resistance or insensitivity to the active ingredients of each medication, and I like Revolution's effectiveness on ear mites, etc....things not covered by Sentinel. |

| ![]() I too use Interceptor and K9 Advantix II (1/2 tube on each the first time bc I was concerned about a reaction) given two weeks apart. Whatever you decide to switch to, I recommend checking active ingredients... there are different brands with the same chemical compounds as heartguard and frontline ![]()

| ![]() The girl gets Interceptor or Sentinel for heartworms. If she is taking interceptor and gets fleas then I use Frontline Plus. If she were to be taking Sentinel at the time I'd probably go with Advantage. Thr boy takes Heartgard Plus. Thinking about changing him to Interceptor. No good reason why though. I just feel like it. ![]() I don't like Revolution and am watching Advantage Multi to see how other dogs react. Too new for me. I tend to accidentally bathe after topicals anyway. Pills are better here. For heartworm drug usage, we follow the recommendations of the AHS.

| ![]() Where are those who are giving Interceptor getting it? I had to go with Heartgard due to Interceptor being unavailable for purchase at Drs. Foster and Smith.

| ![]() We use Hartguard Plus. Everyone gets half one morning and the other half the next morning. I started doing this because one of my poodles began not feeling well after getting the whole thing all at once. This seems to work so far. I use Frontline but I dont put the entire vile on my yorkie, she share it with the pom. Both weigh between 6 - 7 lbs. So far I have found 1 flea this season and noone had Frontline on them at the time. I usually only put flea protection on if we are going out of town and they are traveling with us. I still do a nightly search for the little critters. |
