Yorkies do sneeze. Unless she's doing it all the time (even when not rubbing her belly), I would think it's normal.

We got Higgins when he was 7 1/2 weeks old and he weighed 24 oz. We fed him little meals of Pinnacle organic food (both canned and kibble) 4 to 6 times a day, for a total of only about 2 tablespoons of food per day. We also gave him Lamb Jerky treats by Solid Gold - 1 twice a day. The treats were recommended by the doctor to take care of any hypoglycemia he might get. Both dogs love those treats! Pogo was used to having a can of Mighty Dog every morning....Don's idea, not mine....not good quality and too much food and Pogo has gained weight. Of course, he couldn't resist Higgin's pleas and started giving him some. Last week I put my foot down and he is now weaning them off the canned stuff to dry stuff twice a day. We have been feeding Nature's Choice recently. Pogo won't eat the "adult" one, and insists on the "puppy" kibble, so his weight is still up there. Right now Higgins runs like a rabbit all day and is VERY sleek and full of hard muscle, so we are giving him a total of about 1/3 cup per day, half in the morning, half at night. He is now 6 months old and weighs a little over 5 lbs. Will top out around 8 the vet says. Big fella. Buy the best quality natural food you can afford and feed it in little tiny amounts evenly spread out through the day. And don't forget to have lots of fresh water on hand. NEW HIGGINS TRICK: Brings us his bowl at dinner time! They are so funny!

How big is Higgin's bowl! I can just visualize Higgins now with bowl in mouth! Did you have to teach him that?

Higgin's bowl is one of those thick 6" hard plastic ones. Pretty hefty. But he carries it all over the house. He also tips it (empty) upside down on the kitchen floor and plays hockey with it!!! Sort of a HUGE puck, y'know. It is just hysterical to watch. Then he sometimes has a problem when he wants to turn it over again from the upside down position....and he loses his temper at it! That is even funnier! All his bowl tricks he has figured out on his own.....

Wow, you got one smart pup there! Cool that he figured out how to play with it all by himself!

He's 5 pounds and can carry a 6" bowl around???? AND flip it over?? Are you kidding me? Otis would be terrified if his bowl flipped over. Sometimes I think I have a pet chicken instead of a dog. I read an article that said if your pup uses his paws a lot, you've got a smart dog. Higgins will DEFINITELY learn how to sit....and many other tricks!

I find it hilarious that we have such diverse personalities in our Yorkies... It'd be neat to see them all play with each together at the same time!

| Hey, Mary Ellen ... where do you buy the Pinnacle canned food for your guys? I found sites online that show it and all the info but when I start to place my order it always comes up as "Breeders Choice" and it shows an entirely different can! I just wanted to order some of the small cans to see if Miss Prissy Paws will eat it. Pat bought a bag of Frozen BilJac yesterday and she just turned her nose up!! The only thing she has eaten with any enthusiasm in a couple of weeks is a scrambled egg white with about 1/2 teaspoon of grated cheese! She won't even eat her Natural Balance!!

We bought the canned Pinnacle from a vet clinic in Crystal River. I haven't found a Pinnacle supplier up here yet, but I can get Solid Gold, Natural Choice, and other organics at my wonderful pet shop here. We are fortunate to have The Kennel Shop, a "chain" of four stores in Maine only. I love them because 1. They carry practically EVERYTHING. 2. They carry only locally grown birds, mice, hamsters, etc. 3. They do NOT carry kittens, cats, puppies, dogs, but instead support our local shelter and urge everyone to adopt. 4. Their prices are the LOWEST anywhere. 5. The people who work there are knowledgeable and super nice. At the moment we are feeding both dogs Natural Choice kibble. It is made by Nutro (www.nutroproducts.com) and is wheat free. They love the Lamb Meal and Rice Formula for puppies. Pogo HAS to eat what Higgins eats, so he has gained weight on it! Another thing I like about Natural Choice is that it is fairly cheap at $6.00 for a 5 lb bag. BIG HINT OF THE DAY: It took us awhile to get both dogs to eat ONLY kibble, which is what every vet we have been to recommends. HOW I GOT 'EM TO EAT KIBBLE? Put two shakes of Kraft parmesan cheese on the stiff and mixed it around in the bowl. Both the dogs are "cheeseaholics" and snarfed it all right down! I gradually reduced the cheese until it was just plain ol' kibble and they still snarf it down. Sometimes....not often, but sometimes.....we are smarter than they are!!! And it feels so good!!!! When we were going through the "picky" stage, I would make sure that Higgins got two extra Lamb Jerky treats, made by Solid Gold, to keep his body chemistry balanced. Hang tough and make her eat the good stuff! But try it with a little parmesan on it......

| OK .... sounds good to me ... but ... I'm telling Toto that "Mary Ellen said"!!! We have been keeping the Royal Canin Yorkshire 28 kibble available for her but she just occasionally nibbles on it, which beats a blank! I know she isn't going to starve as long as there is food available and she nibbles on it but I would feel so much better if she would just jump in and gobble it up like some dogs do!! Guess it's probably more me than her, huh?

And remember, Bettye, they need SO LITTLE to eat to maintain a healthy little body! If you measure out 1/4 cup, it's not much! We give Higgins 1/4 cup twice a day, but he runs it off and stays really slim. Vet recommended only 1/4 to 1/3 cup TOTAL for the day. So if she's eating a couple of tablespoons TOTAL for the day, she'll be fine I would think. Measure out a couple of tablespoons and see how little that is! I'm such an expert on dog food portions! BUT NOT MY OWN PORTIONS! sigh....
