| Found fleas on the babies this morning AGAIN I don't know what else I can do. The pest control company has been left a voicemail, but hasn't called me back as of yet. The tech is on vacation this week, but he can't be the only one working there, it's a pretty big company. I am about to take a flying leap off a bridge I bathed the dogs in Dawn, vacuumed the kitchen floor, and have them gated in there for the time being while I wash/dry everything again, vacuum the rest of the house, etc. I'm exhausted already just knowing what's ahead of me for today, and it's all going to be for nothing probably. They just keep coming back! Is there such a thing as "super fleas" that are immune to pesticides and hot water/high heat drying?!?! I'm starting to think so Help!

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I use flea preventative on all my dogs because without it....we would be over run. The problem inside the house w/ sprays etc...it does nothing to kill the eggs. So in 2 weeks...you have new fleas. If you have carpeting...you can purchase boric acid, sprinkle it on the carpet and brush in with a broom. It was the most effective method I found.

| Ok, this is going to sound weird but.... Considering the number of products out there, I was amazed with one that I found at Walmart. It's an off brand, and it's been long enough now that my memory does not serve me on its exact name. However, it is always down toward the bottom shelf where the home flea sprays are. It is an aerosol can. I believe it was golden colored, but don't take that for sure. Just check them out and you'll find it. It has on the front that it kills fleas, flea eggs, and continues to kill both for 30 days as well as staying as a protective barrier (the 30 days could be 60...as I said, it's been awhile). However, I glance periodically to make sure I still see it on the shelf, and I'll be picking some more up just to have at home with the type of flea season it appears we will have at the new place. As it is an aerosol, it goes further than a pump without killing your hand. It is safe to use on furniture, carpets, etc. When we had our last experience, we did as you are doing, but additionally, take all the cushions off your furniture and make sure to spray under them. We also sprayed around each door at the bottom and the bottom half of the screens on the windows (since the cats liked to jump up and sit there). We did this at the same time we put a monthly topical on the dogs/cats. We kept the animals cooped up and away for about 15 minutes to allow any residual in the air to settle and to make sure anything that might be damp had time to dry. Since I have asthma, I was the canary in the cage used to test that there was nothing in the air before turning the animals loose. I can honestly say I was floored at how well this stuff worked. It actually did a better job than the professional extermination I had used the previous year. AND because it killed the eggs, it broke the cycle, which is the ONLY way you get rid of them. It does seem that fleas are getting more and more impervious to insecticides, but the eggs ARE the key. Vacuuming more than normal is also very helpful, just be sure you seal up that bag, or dump it in a trashcan that goes immediately out. Hope this helps, and when I run by wallyworld the next time, I'll get the name.

| What products have you used directly on the dogs in the last month? I'm so sorry. Can't even imagine dealing with such a big issue. Vacuuming and laundry with flea preventative is as far as we have ever had to go.

| Yikes! I feel so bad. I use frontline plus on my dogs and in 11 years I've never had a flea on them or in the house! I feel so bad for you, it must be so much work to keep cleaning and doing this over and over!

| Super Fleas Will Not Go Away We live in middle-Tennessee and are having the same problem. We use Frontline monthly, they take Sentinel orally once a month, we have treated our yard, I have washed and rewashed everything they come in contact with, I have use the aerosol to treat the carpet, chairs and couches, tried Capstar, sprayed them with Cedar Oil, etc. I still find fleas. This past month I switched to Pet Armour...a week and half later both Hattie Mae and Harland still had fleas. I think there is some type of Hybrid Super Flea out there. I have tried everything.... Any ideas out there? |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I agree....the fleas have become immune to most of the topical (Frontline, Revolution, etc.) treatments. Our problem was bad last year and this year seems to be starting out not much better. We've bombed the house, treated the yard, washed and/or vacuumed everything numerous times, treated the dogs, used capstar with little to no affect in curbing the flea problem. I hate cold weather but found myself praying for an early winter this last year. I'm trying something new to us and less caustic - neem oil. It will take a bit longer to kill fleas than pesticides but hopefully will interrupt the fleas breeding cycle. I just started using the neem a week ago, so it's too early to know if it's working but I have noticed fewer fleas already. The first link has lots of information about neem oil, the second link is where I ordered from. Using Neem Oil For Dogs MMS - Fixed Oil

| Wow, I'm sorry at this point I don't even know what to tell you. I've never had to do anything but apply a topical on the pets and vaccum then they were gone and stayed gone with the frontline being put on each month. It seems this is a problem happening in the south for people. Wish I had some advice but I don't understand why what you've done isn't working either. I know it's a holiday weekend, but maybe talk to your vet on Tuesday - I'm sure you're not the only one and they had clients with this problem and maybe know if a different product would work better for your area. Good luck

| I live in Florida too and can't imagine not using Frontline Plus on the dogs. That is a personal preference however. I found this coconut shampoo for my dogs that has Neem oil which helps with fleas and ticks. Might be worth a try. Coconut Clean - Canine Cleanser - (Powered by CubeCart)

| Thanks everyone We are now flea free for a bit here, so I feel pretty confident that we've finally broken the flea life cycle here. Whew! I did use Comfortis and Frontline on them, and they got a Capstar at the groomers a couple of times. I know one thing, we will NEVER go without preventive again. If I have to sell pints of my blood, that's what I'll do I never want to go through this again, it sucked

That's great news. We just can't take the chance here in Florida. Even in January when its cooler, I tried to go every other month and Max ended up with tapeworms. That's with just skipping 1 month in during our "winter" season!
