| My puppy Belle already had her chip before I took her home, she was about 16 weeks old so it was done a few weeks earlier. I had my shih tzu chipped when he was neutered at 5 months. I feel that it is a necessity and it is very safe. My big dog is chipped as well. My BF had his two dogs chipped when they were neutered/spayed also. Because of the microchips he got them back when they escaped after a windstorm damaged part of his fence. They were home w/in a day.

| I believe strongly in micro chipping but my Bella is still too little. When she was only 1.6 lbs at 12 weeks they said she needed to put more weight on. But when its time, we will be getting it done.

| Why not? It's a safe procedure. I personally doubt it helps get a cute yorkie back...but on the off-chance it could, or if you track your dog down & it legally proves your ownership claim, I believe it's well worth the cost.

| Both my boys got microchipped when they got neutered. If it could help a lost or stolen baby find their way back home, then why not? |

| It is a very good idea to have your pup microchipped. Calleigh had it done before I brought her home at 12 weeks. I recommend you seriously should consider doing it. It is a fast and simple procedure. My best friend is a vet and does it for her clients all the time.

All mine, except Harlow, are microchipped. She's too "skinny" they thought. She's on a high calorie supplement, but has only gained 2 oz in the last 3-4 wks or so that I've had her on it. Vet says she's exceptionally healthy just one of those "lean" dogs (like people have different bodies). So I'm trying to get her to put on some weight but she'll probably just always be 'mean & lean' I guess --- opps, off rambling again --- my point was I think microchipping outweighs the risks (until there's more definitive proof otherwise). These little dogs are fast and should they get out the door they'd be long gone - microchipping at least gives you a chance at getting them back.

| My little Ruby has just been chipped and to be honest for the cost of it it is well worth doing. When I asked the vet about the price I was all prepared for a shock but it was such a low cost item there is little point in not doing it. Little Ruby just stood there looking at us when the needle went in, not a blimp or flinch not even a sign she knew it was happening all over in micro seconds. Ask yourself these questions. 1. COULD it help in an ownership dispute ? 2. Does it harm my pet in any way at all ? 3. Can I afford the cost of doing it ? 4. Is there anything to be gained in NOT doing it ? 5. In the event that your pet got itself lost would they be able to find out who the owner is ? If you answer the above in all honesty then you will know the answer to your question. |

| You can get it done when you get him/her fixed, that way your pup will be about 6 months of age and would have already put on some weight! |

| to the micro-chip. It can only bring positive things. My Chi was chipped when she was tiny, tiny (less than 2 pounds) because we had to go overseas and it was required as a condition of entry. As a matter of fact, she has 2 chips. There's never been any problems with it or any migration. |

| I would do it as it gives me a better chance than I would have of getting my Tibbe back home should he ever get lost. Tibbe was chipped when I first got him and never acts like there is anything in there. I can't feel it and he's not sensitive anywhere it is supposed to be. I can't see any down side to it but I see a great up side.

| Yes!!! Microchip!!!! Its your best chance at ever getting your pet back if lost. ANd at the vet clinic where i work, we have done it to soooo many, young, old, tiny, and large. NEVER seen a bad thing happen cause of it. I also was surprised to see some said their vet wouldnt do it because of their size/weight. I have never ever heard of that. We have done it to all sizes. Its soooo tiny, smaller than rice, and its so worth it. ALl my dogs are microchipped. Its a big needle, and looks scary, but prob more scary for us than them. But really Most dogs dont even know it happened. |
