Where does it say that Interceptor needs to be chewed? I just read the product labeling info from Novartis, the manufacturer, and did not see anything about chewing.

| ![]() When we had to give our lab the epilepsy meds we would roll it in solve velveeta cheese. It was easy to do since it's soft and comes in a convenient brick.

| ![]() Sammy takes his pheno 2x a day in a dab of peanut butter. I put his capsule of KBR whole right into his canned food and most of the time he eats it. If he doesn't I put a dab of peanut butter on it and he eats it. I wish I had a good suggestion for you. These pups are so smart! |

| ![]() I have to use a Pill Popper on Tink as she cannot eat anything with her Denamarin. She's gotten very good about taking meds, occasionally spits one out but not often (more my fault than hers, lol). I found the pill pockets too big and they want to chew them, and as mentioned, some pills/capsules need to be swallowed. With the Pill Popper, I like it bc she doesn't have to open her mouth real wide, only about 1/4 inch, just enough for me to slide the tube in to the back of her throat. Her first month on medication was a bit stressful for us both, but once we got the hang of it there's been no problems or stress involved. (I get my Pill Poppers from my vet... better quality and rubber tipped instead of hard plastic. My second fav is baby food meats, but for a difficult pup the med can start to dissolve, until they get used to taking it that way.

| ![]() I would check with the vet to see if you could just open the capsule and add to food. Tina is on heart meds and lasix and I crush them with a pill crusher and add to her food and she never knows the difference. |

| ![]() Have you tried putting it in some meat? Like chicken or tuna or salmon. Most dogs will normally take it in a really smelly real piece of meat. I do this with Polo since he is on meds at the moment and he never spits it out but every yorkie is different. I made up this treat recipe to put his pills in the treats are super soft and easy to push the pills into. ![]() Polo's Tuna Balls 1 Banana 5-10 Strawberries 2 small cans of tuna(drained and rinsed off) 1 cup of flour or oatmeal Mash the banana and strawberries and add the tuna and flour drop by teaspoons on baking sheet cook at 350 for 20-30 minutes FYI they will be very soft don't worry that is how they are suppose to be and store them in the fridge.

| ![]() I tried the baby food and he ate around the capsule. Today i hid it in kibble and he ate it. It really depends on what his mood is. Cheese might be good, he loves shredded mozzarella so maybe I could try the cheese sticks and cut them up and out the pill in there.

| ![]() The key to "hiding" pills in food is to be absolutely SURE that the pill won't be detected. Our little Yorkies are so smart and so persnickety that if they ever think we are faking them out they will become suspicious and will fastidiously chew every treat we give them. I swap high value food treats and be sure that all the kiddos get a bit of the same treat. I hide the pill in the "victim's" treat and set it aside then give everyone a treat. The second go around, I get everyone really excited and start handing out treats, give the "vicitim" his/her treat in the middle of the sequence, being sure that he wolfs it down and then continue handing out treats. Last night I hid Lollie's pill in a piece of soft yummy mac-n-cheese. The night before it was real butter, and before that it was cream cheese. Good luck with Barney! |
