I hope those of you who are using unpasteurized ACV understand the health risks. ACV has been touted as a miracle ingredient for years curing everything form bladder infections to dandruff. Vinegar is acidic and it changes the pH, and it can help with certain issues, however I would be careful in using it, increasing the acidity isn't always beneficial. It used to be believed that bacteria couldn’t thrive in acidic environments, but this was found to be wrong and unpasteurized means that no heat treatment has been used to kill the bacteria so unpasteurized apple cider vinegar carries a risk of being contaminatedwith harmful bacteria, such as E. coli and Salmonella.

Room temp. Worried DH would accidentally drink if kept in fridge. A previous post said they gave 2 oz a day...that seemed like quite a bit. Huey probably only gets a few drops a day, but it seems to be working for his eyes, and that was my main issue.

Ok, I went to the White House web site and even it does not say if their products are pasturized or not, but I found on another site that the cloudy vinegar with the film or "mother" is unpasturized (and sounds gross, too) and the clear vinegars are pasturized, so I guess I'm using pasturized. I am ok with that, since it still seems to be doing what I bought it for.

I don't want to discourage anyone from using it, I just wanted to make sure people understood that pasteurization has its purposes, and you should know the pros and cons when making a choice.

Why does your dog have eye goobers to begin with? I clean my dogs' eyes with a soft wash cloth and plain warm water every morning and there is never an eye glob. They barely even have any sleep in their eyes. This would concern me as I would want to know the cause of the problem.

Mandie used to have bad eye goobers when she was little. I think it was from teething. Either that or it took a while for the grain free food to kick in. She hasn't really had an issue in the past few months, though. Just regular stuff that I get with the mustache comb, but not the big ones like before.

I am not good about daily grooming issues such as cleaning eyes. Huey is not a fan of grooming and becomes difficult to catch and hold. He gets bathed and a full grooming weekly, but daily stuff is hit and miss.

We also changed to BB freedom, and I think that has helped, too.

Ok that would explain it. I force it on them. It's easier to keep up daily for me, otherwise I end up spending time getting out knots or this or that.

Have you had luck with this preventing ear infections? Our Lilli has a mild ear infection and my research today has all led me to try organic ACV to treat it and to maintain a healthy ear. If it gets worse, of course we'll go to the vet, but I prefer holistic methods if at all possible for my babies.
