| I use Revolution (St Bernard size) and measure it out. Revolution takes care of mites and other noseeums in addition to ticks and fleas and is a Heartworm preventative to boot. As I am in Maryland too, I noticed we get fleas in the spring and the fall when the weather begins to turn cooler. I think it depends on the amount of rain also as some years are worse than others. And I agree vacuum, vacuum, vacuum. Don't forget to empty or change the vacuum bag each time (or vacuum up some flea powder to kill the fleas in the vacuum. Also, if you sprinkle table salt on the carpets and leave it set overnight, it will dehydrate any fleas living there and you vacuum them up the next morning.

| It will help save some money with the yorkies. Im gonna have to see about the cat advantage because I dont know if they have different weights. Im gonna check with my vet and see if they sell a higher volume of it for people with multiple cats. Its the cat advantage that gets expensive for me because I have so many. Thanks

If your dog is allergic to flea saliva, it will only take one flea to really set them off scratching.

| Hi all, it is very important to learn the four stages of the flea life cycle and how to kill them. When they are adults it is when our yorkies are bitten but the flea population is only at adult stage about 5% at a time. So it is very important to tackle the other stages i.e the eggs, larvae and pupae. This can live around the house, in carpets or furniture but will wait until the conditions are right for them to develop into next stage! If you prefer a natural way to kill off fleas (as I do) here are a few tips: Eucalyptus has flea repelling properties...use eucalyptus in furniture to kill off flea eggs...NEVER place directly on your yorkie as I have heard it can be toxic to dogs...maybe a good idea is to place it under your carpet or other high up places where your yorkie cannot get to it. A dip containing rosemary leaves and lemon juice can help rid the fleas off your yorkie. If you happen to grow some herbs such as lavender or mint they are great herbs and have 3 good qualities: 1. are non-toxic to dogs 2. they repel fleas 3. they will leave a great fragrance in your house Try drying off either one of these herbs and placing strategically around your house! I hope this helps a bit! |

| Fleas have been driving us crazy too, and now a tick..But anyways, we used Frontline in the past until it stopped working, now we are trying Comfortis and Sentinel but they seem to be crap for fleas as well. So who know, I may try Advantix next go round.

Just a note here-I only realized Scoob was allergic to corn because he was itching and after much exposure to it finally got a visible rash...might not be a parasite at all... | |
