I use Revolution (St Bernard size) and measure it out. Revolution takes care of mites and other noseeums in addition to ticks and fleas and is a Heartworm preventative to boot.
As I am in Maryland too, I noticed we get fleas in the spring and the fall when the weather begins to turn cooler. I think it depends on the amount of rain also as some years are worse than others.
And I agree vacuum, vacuum, vacuum. Don't forget to empty or change the vacuum bag each time (or vacuum up some flea powder to kill the fleas in the vacuum. Also, if you sprinkle table salt on the carpets and leave it set overnight, it will dehydrate any fleas living there and you vacuum them up the next morning. |
