I personally think it's wonderful that you believe in LA so much. It's awesome that you have so much confidence that you're willing to spend some money and give out free samples. I know I myself have received one of those samples (although I don't remember from who). Just because it doesn't work for every dog doesn't mean it won't work for some. I know personally one of the things that turned me off of LA was the having to have it shipped - I like the convenience of being able to drive to the store and pick up dog food whenever I need it.

| I love Life's Abundance food. It works for us, whatever that's supposed to mean. My dog's are healthy. Cooper no longer has stomach issues whatsoever and he really seems to enjoy his meal times. I think it all boils down to who is purchasing food for their dog. Some people here practically have a nutrition degree in dog food. Ok, then maybe LA is not the perfect food; I'm not really sure. Some people purchase awful dog food at Walmart and perhaps Life's Abundance is a huge step up. For someone like myself, the average dog owner with basic canine health knowledge, who went from my vet's recommended Science Diet to Life's Abundance - I'm thrilled with it.

And as a side note: I had a dog growing up who ate the cheapest food and the worst treats and she lived a very healthy life up to 15.

| So sorry to offend...not my intent at all. My apologies.Quote:
There was absolutely no personal intent in my comment. I see LA raved by reps, but it wasn't for us when we tried it. Yes I read of others that like it too but the majority is the reps. But it just wasn't for us. That's it. No personal direction intended. I'm not sure why that came accross offensive. I offered the OP to contact a rep if he'd like to try it...because I know there are many who offer free samples. Didn't say reps were lying...didn't say they were getting rich, didn't say it was a bad food. Just wasn't for us.Baxtersmommy, please let me be clear that I was NOT in any way commenting towards you...or anybody else for that matter. I think it was read a little too personally, when it was simply a statement of general observation. I am so sorry it was taken personal and was offensive. I didn't have that at heart one bit. My forgiveness asked. | |

I think that what it comes down to is "Does it work for YOUR" dog? Is your dog healthly? Does it have a shiny coat? Are it's stools normal? And most importantly- Does your dog EAT it? The best kibble in the world doesn't mean squat if you can't get your dog interested in it. I can't count the number of foods I've been through over the years trying to find a good balance between price/nutrition/healthy reactions/edibility.

| My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Deb, I addressed this with them and did get a reply. I've been having email issues but I will also send this too you. From: drjanebicks@healthypetnet.com Subject: Re: Need this addressed ASAP [TRI: 1645573]- Date: September 7, 2010 4:16:29 PM EDT To: greensyorkies@gmail.com I apologize. The message was not meant to be taken in a rude way. It was only to make a clear, straight answer on puppies ability to eat the kibble. There's absolutely no doubt that puppies can eat the size kibble we offer and the reason is mentioned, therefore is no reason to change size. Quote:

| [QUOTE=Britster;3264777]Dried beet pulp. It is a high fiber by-product of sugar beet processing, is probably what she was referring to. Also, Potassium Chloride is a form of salt, Salt (real salt is listed), Canola Oil is often a controversial ingredient but I don't know exactly why or if canola oil is "bad". Also, "dried beets" is another one that had me ![]() I just don't see why this stuff is necessary in our carnivores food. And what does 'natural flavors' even mean? Since both brewers yeast and flaxseed meal are high in plant-based protein, they are capable of raising the amount of protein reported in this dog food, and plant based protein is not good.Dried beet pulp is high in fiber as well as containing significant amounts of calcium. Unfortunately, due to the oxalate count, a percentage of the calcium is chemically-bound to these oxalates, and excreted out. Canola oil, once processed for use in dog foods or as cooking oil, looses all its omega 3 benefits and essentially transforms into a trans-fatty acids. Canola oil also comes from the rapeseed which is toxic to humans before processing, and has been commonly used as a pesticide. Potassium chloride is used as a substitute for sodium chloride(table salt) and is basically used just like salt, as a flavor enhancer. The problem lies in the fact that even though potassium is needed for the bodies functions, if you have a kidney compromised pup the excretion of excess potassium could lead to issues, compromising the kidneys even more. Sorry you were offended. The great thing about LA is you have a personal Rep. She could have answered your questions too. I understand you were offended by Dr. Jane's email, I still don't see anything wrong with it. But, to each his own. Also, the message you receieved for canceling your account is a standard email that goes to everyone. You must understand that they have thousands of customers and it is impossible to answer each cancellation request individually. I think it is awesome that Brenda contacted Dr. Jane and she responded so quickly. Last edited by BaxtersMommy; 09-12-2010 at 05:02 AM. | |

| Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Regarding Chicken Meal, Beet Pulp etc. I would suggest any and everyone to listen to the recording. Go to this site and on the right side of the page, you will see all the ingredients. Click on the first one being Chicken Meal, Dr. Jane explains WHY all of these ingredients you question. FYI this site was referenced on page one of this thread. But, still not sure if anyone has listened. - Compare Pet Food |
