| my baby have Luxating patella =( I was SO SAD when I heard from my vet that my baby has LP!!! My heart broke when I heard this, it was as if he had cancer...The vet said there's nothing I can do as of now. Only time can tell...Anyone has experience with this?!? Please let me know! I need advices! He likes to run and jump around. He doesn't seem to have any problems right now, he's only 8 months old. And it's $1000 a leg for a surgery...if he ever needs it in the future...Do all yorkies with LP eventually get surgery? My baby has VPI insurance...I hope that helps...I'm just REALLY worried.

| What grade did your vet diagnose your baby as? Uni has grade 3 and I don't plan on getting surgery for her. I have her on glucosamine supplements, and she has not hiked up her leg ever since that first time. you can read up on it here: http://www.offa.org/patluxinfo.html Grade 4 is the worst. Grades 1 and 2 are hardly operated on. Grade 3 is debatable.

| My poodle was diagnosed with grade 2 as a pup. She is now 12&1/2 and runs and plays as much as our young yorkies! No signs of arthritis or any other problems. You might want to limit his running up and down stairs. One of my yorkies has it also and sometimes it goes out when she runs full speed up or down the stairs. |

| Bailey was diagnosed with LP at 8 mos too. I chose not to do the surgery at the time. She is now 3 years old and no signs of limping. I agree with the wait and see method. Good luck!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My Cali has grade 4 in both legs but it doesn't bother her so the vet and I agreed to wait and see. She has other issues that they don't want to put her under unless absolutely necessary. The 13+ male I recently took in has LP and still jumps like he's a puppy. So hopefully you will not have to have the surgery. I would use stairs or ramps to minimize his jumping off furniture and keep them at a good weight as adults.

| It depends on the severity of the the lp. Hot Rod had surgery a year ago as his was a grade 4 and his leg was bowed out. He's doing well now and is on Dasuquin. Maggie was just diagnosed with low grade 2. You would not know she had any issues whatsoever the way she jumps and stands all the time! She is also on Dasuquin now. The vet said that she would not recommend surgery for Maggie at this time and she may never need it. Hope this helps. Your vet should be able to tell you what grade. It sounds as though it might be a grade 1 -2 if he is not worried about it. You should ask him about supplements and exercises to strengthen the joints. good luck.
