| Just got pet insurance Just signed up for PetPlan pet insurance. I did a lot of research. They cover hereditary, chronic & congenital diseases. It's for accident, injury & illness, not for routine visits though. PetsBest can cover routine visits, but they don't cover hereditary, chronic & congenital diseases. |

| If you don't mind me asking, how much are you paying for it?

| I decided to splurge. They have a few plans & you can choose your deductible & percent of coverage. I got the Silver plan that covers 80% of the vet's bill (not a payment scale from the company, the actual vet bill) & I pay a $50 deductible. It will cover up to $12,000 a year. This plan cost $307. We got 15% discount - 5% for microchipping, 5% for a web quote (rather than calling) & 5% for entering a code I found online. |

| I have Petplan for both of mine. I haven't had to use it yet though, but I understand its one of the only plans that cover pre existing conditions.

| No plan covers pre-existing conditions. But, Petplan and Embrace are two companies that do cover hereditary/genetic conditions (as long as they were not pre-existing at the time coverage began).

| I did the same thing when I was first looking into pet insurance. There's just so much to try to remember!

That is the one I'm looking at and will get it after April 2nd when Cerise gets spayed and microchipped. It seemed like the best plan from the research I did too. I think I saw that they have one that pays 100% too, but of course it's a higher monthly fee.

| They would really cover LP? Even if it has already been diagnosed prior to the purchase of the plan?

| Not if it's already been diagnosed - then it's considered a pre-existing condition. If the plan were purchased before the LP was diagnosed, the LP would have been covered. Note that most plans have a waiting period after coverage begins....I think Embrace has a 6 month waiting period for orthopedic issues. If they're diagnosed after that 6 months then they'll be covered in full.
