| Do you have pet insurance? I was just wondering who on here has pet insurance? Is it really worth it to get? If so, where's the best place to get it? I heard that it's a waste of money because it never covers anything serious that might happen...

| As far as I know it only covers shots and broken bones and such. There are very few companies that cover genetic diseases and tests that go with them which our little yorkies are most prone too. If you are referring to the banfield plan, it may be worth your while to get her spayed/neutered with all shots for the first year, but after that, no.

| I got one for Sushi as he's always getting into things inedible and had a couple episodes of vomitting and diarrhea. I chose Embrace as it seemed to offer the best value. You can choose your deductible, $200 goes towards annual expenses. The deductible is on a yearly basis and the plan covers most health issues. Now I have the peace of mind knowing that in the event of a major health issue or emergency, I'm covered and money won't be a consideration. |

| I have VPI. It's rather expensive at $45 a month but covers everything.

| I have pet insurance on Sassafras. Ours has been pretty good about paying. We had some problems with them in beginning when she was having a lot of tummy problems, but we appealed their decision with letters/phone calls from us and our vet and they paid. It seemed like to me that they want to quickly diagnose things as a preexisting condition. However they have been really good with paying for accidents and we have had many! We use ASPCA Pet Health Insurance. |

| I have looked at some of the pet insurance plans. I would rather put my mothly insurance premium in a jar each month so I have the money if an issue should arise. If my dog is healthy for three years with no need to dip into my stash I would have right at or over 1000.00, which would be at least a huge help should we have an emergency. Or, I would have the money to buy another furbaby That said, I live in the middle of Tim Buck Too. Our vet expenses are not anything like what I see some posting on here for routine or special care from their vets. I guess I feel fortunate in that.

| I really want to get insurance for accidents for both of them and for Bandit's stomach issues. My mom actually gave me $150 for a few months of pet insurance coverage for xmas!! I'm trying to decide which is the best. I only want a cheap one for major accidents or illnesses which seem to be the most costly, and I'd like one that I could include something for Bandit's trips to the vet for vomitting/dirreah. |

| I like having pet insurance with Trupanion. It costs me about 33 dollars a month with a $250 deductible (you can choose your own deductible) and it covers 90% of the vet bill. I know there is a lot of people who oppose pet insurance but I honestly think it is important especially if you dont think you can afford the bill if your yorkie gets sick! I enroll Skye about a couple months ago and it seems to work out pretty well. A website you should definitely take a look at is www.petinsurancereview.com because that has all the pet insurance companies and reviews from customers! I thought it was really good information and it helped me decide on what company to go with. Of course it was mainly based on policy and what fit my budget but it was helpful reading feedback! |

| It really depends on what you get and where you go get them done. At Banfield they are notorious for trying to over vaccinate, and they are expensive, even if you go during "Wellness hours". I go to the humane society, and DHPP booster was $10, rabies 3 yr was $6. Looking back at old Banfield papers, rabies would have been $14.95, DHPP $27.95. They are a ripoff.

| I kind of want to get pet insurance now after Jackson's $350 vet visit yesterday. It would have been nice to have been reimbursed some of it. I'm looking into some of the cheaper plans now.
