There are other shampoos along the same lines that would do the same but they may try to give you one with steroids, so careful if you don't want to go that way.

| Actually the chamomile tea is also a soother for the inside and outside of the body. It sooths the skin and it neutralizes the allergens. You dont have to bath them to use it, just pour it on them between baths if they get itchy, it's the shampoo that drys the skin. And if it's seasonal allergies the oats/oatmeal shampoos can actually make it worse. My dog has seasonal allergies, his skin gets red and itchy the whites of his eyes turn very red and his nose gets swollen and plugged. The tea is the only thing that works for him. I pour it in my dogs drinking water and do the rinse. When you do the rinse you want it to get into the eyes, it takes the red out quickly. If you have a cat and have a visitor who's allergic, wipe the cat down with a rag soaked in the tea. My nephew is highly allergic to cats , I use the tea on my cat before he comes over and no more sneezing and snorting when the cat curls up next to him. My sister-n-law is amazed. My vet recomends it to some of his clients. And you'll never know till you try it, it's much cheaper then the shampoos too. |

| Marci - have you tried any of the supplements from askariel.com that are specific for allergies. Colostrum is something we use with Sissy to help the digestive system (it is also used for pancreatitis) and one of the benefits is also for allergic dogs. You have to do a seach on the site to find it and though pricey, you only use 1/2 capsule once a day........

| Roxy had been on Moducare- the plant sterol for almost a month. The results looked very promising. Then I took her to be groomed and now her eyes are running, she is scratching and chewing her paws. I have checked for everything. I suspect the groomer did not use the shampoo I bring this time. Also, I increased the Moducare to 1/2 capsule daily about the same time. Not sure if it was too much. She has never been quite this bad. I started her on Benadryl two days ago- it helps her sleep but that's about all. Otherwise she is still active, eating and pooping! I am going to try the chamomile tea rinse tomorrow. |

| If her feet are really itchy soak them in the tea for a few minutes. She would also benefit from some Esther-C, NOT regular vitamin C, About 250 mg. per 10 lbs of body weight. I buy the 500 mg tabs from Wal-Mart and quarter them. Once a day to start, 1 to 2 weeks then 2xper day or to bowel tolerance. If your dog has no problems, then up the dose . If it gets runny stools cut back. Some times they will go along fine for a few months then start to get runny stools . This means that your dog is healing and the body no longer requires as much. It also works wonders for arthritis, FYI for those of you with older dogs. Once again The Encyclopedia of Natural Pet Care, I call it my doggie Bible. Good Luck!!!!!!!!! |
