I would find a surgeon who is comfortable and experienced in surgical procedures in tiny dogs. Good luck!

| We were wondering how that was going to work. So basically, theres nothing we can do except find someone who is willing and experienced with this scenario. He was never diagnosed with Cryptorchidism, but its clear that they really haven't descended.

The other thing that kind of bothers me, is your vet wants to wait 6 months for your seven and a half month old pup to get bigger. I honestly doubt your puppy is going to get big enough to make much of a difference. The small ones are usually about done growing at that time, at least structurally, so the few ounces he may gain is probably not going to make much of a difference in the surgery site. You have a couple options- you could wait and have your vet try again, you could get a second opinion, or you be referred to a clinic that is confident in working on tiny dogs. I don't know if there is more to it than what you posted (as far as your vet's concerns) but it really sounds like he wasn't comfortable and didn't want to risk your pup's life, which is commendable. However, if that was the case, I wish he would have sent you somewhere else.

Canine Neuter Have you spoken to your breeder about this? If you got Pilot at 12 weeks, his breeder should have known that his testicles had not descended and told you. Cryptorchidism is genetic so she should not breed his parents again. | |

| YT 2000 Club Member | It's good that your vet realised he was not able to do a normal neuter on your little guy. I guess you could seek out another vet and see what they have to say about neutering him. About marking, have you tried a belly band for him? Sometimes once a male starts to mark, nuetering will not correct this problem, so you might want to give them a try just in case! Good luck with you little guy!

| I would find another vet. There is no reason he shouldn't have been able to locate the testicals unless they just weren't there. He should have been able to make an abdominal incision and locate them in the abdomen. Its really a small area where they could be.

| Just reading MyFairLacy's post, I wasn't even thinking did the vet do an abdominal incision?
