| I am trying to think of anything that could explain any of this. This is not fact , but when he had his bandages changed at one week because they were slipping and starting to bind, he was not great, but after the bandages were changed he wouldn't even put his feet down at first. The surgical nurse called him a Drama King. I waited a day or two thinking the bandages would stretch or something but when they didn't I called and they told me to come in. I did and they were removed. Could the tight bandages or the process of putting them on perhaps have caused this? Gew |

| I hate being a downer; but, I just went back and re read much of this thread and to me it sounds like the yelping has been there all along...and I cannot help but wonder if this surgery was a waste of time..not to mention awful for Max. I think something else is the cause of his yelping. I hope I am wrong....but, I think you should explore this and if it were me, it would not be at the same facility. Again, I suggest a trip to Red Bank.

| As to my last post. I just checked back in the thread If anyone has time, please check my posts of 4/20/2017 ,11:40 am. And then the one below it from Thursday 4/26/2017, 8:48 am. Can you see what I am thinking? It is also possible it is not one thing, but rather some combination of the LP, the Lymes and now added the hip flexor. Gew |

| Max saw the other surgeon who we consulted before surgery yesterday who confirmed the hip flexor sprain with an ultrasound. She said it was not a tear and that laser and magnetic therapy should be contnued. She said that she could not determine when it occurred just that it had. She checked his knees and felt they were healing and now in correct position. She agreed that Rimadyl should be continued. She asked if she could speak to our surgeon and I agreed, and she told us to call his office which we did when we got home. She sent him a copy of the ultrasound, etc. He wants to see Max in two weeks. He seems better since the laser and magnetic therapy. He goes to PT on Monday. He is now toe touching on his left side. Thanks for all your interest and suggestions. Gew |

| Until last Tuesday, he seemed better. Then Tuesday he couldn't put down his leg. He seemed to be in increasing pain. I took him to PT on Wednesday. By that time he was obviously in pain. She checked his knees. The right was okay, but the left was now out. She said to take him home and call the surgeon immediately. I did at 10:00 am After calling twice, I finally got a call back at 5:50 pm. It was one of the surgical nurses calling for the surgeon who was still in surgery, I was told. She said that the doctor said that at this point there was nothing he could do, but to come as scheduled on the 24th. She said to give Tramadol as needed, no more than every eight hours. Continue the Rimadyl. I asked why the doctor didn't want me to bring him in right away. She repeated that nothing could be done till the 24th even if I brought him in before that. It seemed crazy to me and I was and am very upset. I called the PT and she said that the surgeon probably was waiting for the right, the good leg, to strengthen before reoperating on the left again, so that the right would not go out too. The PT said she would run it by the surgeon at Crown and see what she said. The PT said not to continue bringing him to therapy because the car ride would be harder on him than the laser and magnetism would do good. This is all so crazy. The only good news is that Max doesn't seem to be in pain now as he had on Tuesday and Wednesday. I only gave him Tramadol after speaking to the surgeon's office on Wednesday night. I stayed next to his crate all night, and he slept well. The Tramadol makes him shake so I waited to see any sign of pain before giving him more as the doctor had said to do. Max is still getting Rimadyl twice a day. so we wait for the right leg to strengthen and return on the 24th, the sixth week after surgery on both. They said no food or water before the visit. Can't wait, but have to. Gew |

As for the physical therapist "guessing" about why the surgeon put you off...I would not be seeing her again. And, I would be on the phone demanding that the surgeon explain WHY he won't see a pup HE operated on that is having issues. Wait for a sign of pain?? There IS a sign...he isn't wanting to use his leg!!!! I feel sick for Max. You said you did go to Red Bank for an opinion (I think??). If so, you should easily get in there to see someone. I would not wait for 2 weeks to be seen. This is outrageous! If the hospital/surgeons I use did something like this, I would be raising hell. I am horrified at all of this...hip flexor, lymes...all of it is not making a bit of sense.

I would not allow that surgeon to operate on my dog again period. I would be going else where. That just isn't right.

| No disrespect, but I am finished here. It is extremely upsetting to see things like this and feel that you cannot help in any way. I always feel so badly for the pups. They don't have voices in their care. Obviously, our thoughts have not mean much from the beginning ... or at least that is my perception. I know you don't know me, but I have been through more surgeries with yorkies than I can count and have never had such a cluster. If I call with a question, the pup is seen immediately. I guess everyone does it differently and people have different expectations. As long as you are happy with the treatment Max is getting, I guess that is it. *shrug* Not what I would want, but he is not mine and not my call. I just don't like knowing about it....makes me sick to my stomach. Good luck to you and Max .... I will pray that Max is ok.
