I did at 10:00 am After calling twice, I finally got a call back at 5:50 pm. It was one of the surgical nurses calling for the surgeon who was still in surgery, I was told. She said that the doctor said that at this point there was nothing he could do, but to come as scheduled on the 24th. She said to give Tramadol as needed, no more than every eight hours. Continue the Rimadyl. I asked why the doctor didn't want me to bring him in right away. She repeated that nothing could be done till the 24th even if I brought him in before that. It seemed crazy to me and I was and am very upset.
I called the PT and she said that the surgeon probably was waiting for the right, the good leg, to strengthen before reoperating on the left again, so that the right would not go out too. The PT said she would run it by the surgeon at Crown and see what she said. The PT said not to continue bringing him to therapy because the car ride would be harder on him than the laser and magnetism would do good.
This is all so crazy. The only good news is that Max doesn't seem to be in pain now as he had on Tuesday and Wednesday. I only gave him Tramadol after speaking to the surgeon's office on Wednesday night. I stayed next to his crate all night, and he slept well. The Tramadol makes him shake so I waited to see any sign of pain before giving him more as the doctor had said to do. Max is still getting Rimadyl twice a day.
so we wait for the right leg to strengthen and return on the 24th, the sixth week after surgery on both. They said no food or water before the visit. Can't wait, but have to.

Yes, this IS crazy and I would be at that place demanding that the surgeon look at him and xray that leg!!!!!! These people...OMG I would be furious. He goes by what a PT said??? and, doesn't even xray that leg? Horrifying to me.
As for the physical therapist "guessing" about why the surgeon put you off...I would not be seeing her again. And, I would be on the phone demanding that the surgeon explain WHY he won't see a pup HE operated on that is having issues.
Wait for a sign of pain?? There IS a sign...he isn't wanting to use his leg!!!!
I feel sick for Max. You said you did go to Red Bank for an opinion (I think??). If so, you should easily get in there to see someone. I would not wait for 2 weeks to be seen. This is outrageous! If the hospital/surgeons I use did something like this, I would be raising hell. I am horrified at all of this...hip flexor, lymes...all of it is not making a bit of sense.
