| Yes, I agree with Ann. We need to see the ingredients. As for the pup, it sounds very serious. Although steroids are not healthy, it doesn't sound like this problem can wait. Chunks coming off from his ears??? I would seriously consider steroid injections immediately if that is the case. Ears and paws could be a food allergy. How old is he again? What food is he on? Has the vet done testing for environmental allergies? What is the spray called that you are using? Have you tried Synotic for the ears? Did you try an antihistamine before the steroids? Histacalm?

| Ari is 7 months old. The ear thing is actually normal...the splitting occurs on all dogs i had just never noticed it before. We tried Benadryl and it made him hyperactive. He is on Eukanuba Puppy food and has been his whole life. The biting seems only to occur when we are not here. He is currently curled up in a little ball next to me and is fine. |

| This worked for me Remove corn or corn meal from diet. That is a usual allergy suspect and is the easiest to cure. Then, search on yorkietalk for yeast or fungal infection. There's a ton of information. I used an an over the counter medicine. My pup had a fungal infection on her feet and ears and face which caused the intense itching and sores. Give dimatappe (sp) children's tiny dose until the itching calms. |

| also, dimatape tends to calm them down, and make them sleepy, so that would help with the anxiety. Hope she gets better.... Keep us posted |

| This doesn't sound like an allergy. Sounds like he's so stressed out when you are gone that he chews until he bleeds. My oldest male T.J. does this but not to that degree. He chews his feet and paws when he is stressed. In June of 2007 he had cancer surgery and was in the hospital for 10 days and he has done this more since that. He's become an extremely nervous dog |

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Missy scratches her nose so much there isn't any hair left I was wondering if you managed to find out why Ari is scratching so much. My Missy doesn't the same thing on her nose and around her mouth. The vet put her on some meds and a pork and barley diet but it hasn't helped. The reason for the pork and barley diet is that these two ingredients aren't in any other dog. Louise Quote:

| Maggie was always very very itchy especially with her right ear. That lead us to have a surgery done to open up the ear canal to avoid further ear infections. It did not help and we know now that she has allergies and that her ear infections were caused by those. She first had to go through a food allergie diet trial for 6 weeks after which it was determined that she has environmental allergies. A skin allergy test showed that she is allergic to 20 different things from storage mold to several grasses. http://i568.photobucket.com/albums/s...r/HPIM3848.jpg The treatment is now the medication Atopica combined with frist weekly then monthly given shots as Immunotherapy. | Try this! My little guy had horrible skin allergies and vet checked him and said it was nothing! So I did my own investigation and found these products It has worked wonders on him. His skin was red and angry and flakey! Now non of that! Its a little expensive but I would recommend it to any dog with skin allergies. Here is the website!
