| Howdy!! Snickers was on Merrick's Puppy Plate for months!! We loved it and actually really wanted to stick with the Merrick line when we moved him to grainless but didn't work out. We really liked Merrick b/c after we switched Snickers from Nutro Puppy (UGH!) to Merrick, he adored his food and we loved the ingredients. Also, you could put warm water on it and it makes a gravy which Snick loved when he got fussy. If you don't feel like he is eating enough, or gaining weight, add some canned food to it. It's higher in fat. Good luck...Smiles

| I feed Merrick before grain Chicken flavor and we love it. It seems like Harley has put on a little weight since we have switched to before grain from the origional Merrick, but he also eats more of it, so it only makes sense that he would gain a little weight. We liked the Merrick puppy plate but I had a hard time being able to find it in the small bag on a consistant basis and I switched to the turducken. The switch to the turducken led to frequent upset tummy as well as an occasional soft stool. After the second bag of turducken I switched over to the Merrick before grain and we have had wonderful results with it. Jeri and Harley |

| Jackson is now on Merrick's Before Grain food... you can see it here; Dog Food Reviews - Before Grain Buffalo - Powered by ReviewPost They have 3 flavors - Buffalo, Chicken and Salmon. So I figure that I will just continue to switch them up between the three since he's kinda picky and gets tired of food quickly. I may just do Buffalo and Chicken though and skip Salmon. We've tried loads of different foods for Jackson and he seems to LOVE Before Grain! He's been on it now for about 2 weeks or so. Usually every other morning, I will mix it with some wet food for his breakfast. I also still have my bag of Cesar Millan's Dog Whisperer food left (that's what he was eating previously...) and they're smaller pieces of kibble and I've been mixing them in still with his food just for the transition. But, I figure I'll put some variety into his life lol. It doesn't upset his tummy or anything. So I may let him eat Before Grain for a few days, then Dog Whisperer for a few days, or just continue mixing! We'll see. Food is so confusing! LOL. There's so many choices and so many opinions and prices and ahh! I was going to put him on Wellness Core but it said recommended for over a year old. I think it's very high in protein.

| I didn't like that they had sea salt as one of the ingredients...I'm sure a small amount won't hurt, some companies even use garlic. It seems most Yorkies like the taste of Merricks.

| Actually MANY people will disagree with me but I have heard from several nutrition obssesed dog owners that garlic is good for dogs and great for their agility. I know many people will disagree but I agree to disagree! I feed Evo and it has garlic and I think the NV raw I feed also has it. I am ok with it.

| overweight?! what do you think?? I actually have been feeding my little guy Merrick for about a year now. He's on the BG Merrick and when I took him to the groomers she said I needed to watch his weight he's only 6 pounds. I walk him everyday three times a day and two of those times are for 20 mins or more. Here are some pics. What do you guys think? I'm a little worried now but he only eats twice a day and a good amount (not too much, not too little). img src="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...a06/jan058.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> img src="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...a06/jan054.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> |

| Harley has not had any gas problems with the BG. He was actually having horrible gas with the origional formula and that is why we made the switch (seems that the dehydrated vegetables, which he loved, caused the gas). He did poo more for the first three weeks or so, but we are almost finished with our second bag and he goes usually twice a day, the size is much smaller, and there isn't really a smell! |
