Best of luck to the concerned mother with her venture into figuring out what she should do to gain weight.

				   | Cat food isn't going to hurt a dog unless the fat triggers pancreatitis which is a very real possibility or the dog can't have excess protein. There are some brands that dogs probably could eat as a regular diet because there seem to be more nutrients in it than dog food. Cats can't eat dog food long term because most of it lacks taurine. I would never give satin balls to a Yorkie. Most of the recipe have way way way too much beef fat which would be a major pancreatitis trigger. It'd consider most recipes very dangerous unless I'm missing something.

				   | My little Ellie is too skinny, too. I've tried everything I can think of, but nothing helps very much. I haven't tried the peanut butter, though. I'll try that. If anybody has any other ideas, please help. Rita |

				   | My Ellie was too skinny and it seemed to get a bit better when I increased her food intake 50%. She eats homecooked and I added 50% more. She gained almost a pound.

				   | Do you feed her from the table? Or cook hers separately, and if so, what do you cook for her?

Her recipe was developed by an animal nutritionist. It is protein, carbs, veggies, oil and a vit/min supplement.

A friend sent me THE HONEST KITCHEN and my Yorkie ate it up so fast. Here we are now 8 months later and she weighs a healthy 6 lbs 2 oz. and looks great. THK is a raw dehydrated food, all you do is add water. See the video link below. We have never gone back to that vet, and life is good. Have a new vet and a healthier dog. We use FORCE because it is the one she prefers. I did try EMBARK and THRIVE but FORCE seems to be the flavor of choice, but each dog is different. I highly recommend THK. here is a company that I found that has the best prices ....Alpha Nutrition
