Default supplement for growing show coat

is there some kind of product or food or concoction to make that will help the hair grow faster or make it look better. i have heard of something with peanut butter and other stuff in it and its supposed to do wodners for the coat. emma is 10 months old today and her coat is a little slow growing. it is silky and has the correct coloring just slow at growing. is there anything i can do to speed it up.
also her hair is a little thin. i have heard once there full coat grown in it will thicken up yet i have also been told that it will always be thin.

I think that there is a good recipe on Lowchens of Austrailia: how to grow hair on a door knob.

Also, genetics plays a major roll in hair gowth as well.

is that the one with peanut butter mirracoat and linatone? does it really work?

anyway, what i use is solid gold's seameal with flax seed and mix it to their meal. honestly there was something good happening with the coats of my yorkies. they grow faster. reeses had silvery coat on his upper legs and the color darkened...

see...

genes, diet and care=great coat.

Honey, Peanut butter, MirraCoat and Pet Tinic. I have never used it, but another exhibitor I know really likes it. I read somehwere that flax seed/oil is not good for dogs. I could be mistakened though.

I read it's the cod liver oil which is bad since it has alot of oil soluble vitamins like A & D which is already toxic and they don't get excreted through urine. I was really about to try that recipe when I first got Reeses, my first yorkie... he had sparse coat but I got worried that kids at home might also eat the peanut butter balls stored in the fridge.

Seameal is nice for the coat. Some breeders even feed their dogs the seaweed sushi wrap, called "Nori"... The reason why seameal can't be an ingredient of dog food is that, high temperature destroys the potency of the nutrients in seameal so it has to be mixed every meal time. For yorkies, it's 1/8tsp per meal... you can also add a few drops of water to create a paste so it will cling with the kibbles...

For more info about seameal...
Seameal powder information

They already removed the brewer's yeast in their new formulation...
Amazon.com: Solid Gold Seameal Powder - 5 pounds:...Amazon.com: Solid Gold Seameal Powder - 5 pounds:...
It removes the red tinge too. I'm working on Goober's coat right now.

I have read that milled flax seed is very good for the skin, and hair. It must be milled, or otherwise dogs can't digest the seed. Oil works as well, but doesn't have the added benifit of aiding in disgestion. Two products that contain milled flax seed are Missing Link, The Missing Link Canine Formula Super Food Supplement at PETCO, and a product made by Summerwinds called Healthy Coat. Summerwinds - Suppliments. I don't know if either one of them work.

I just want to add, I've used both on Joey, and and Joey does have great hair, but I don't know if it's due to the product. The main reason I like it is because I take a human brand of milled flax seed, and I notice the difference on me.

A breeder told me once that glucosamine supplements actually worked wonders for coat growth, in addition to having other benefits as well. I had to grow a coat back on one of mine and it definately did grow back alot quicker than I'd expected. Of course, it's not the only supplement that I use, so I really don't know if it was from that, or one of the other ones.

Yup... Seameal is a more general term as it's made of dried sea vegetation.
Sea kelp, sea weeds and such. It does wonders, aint it?
