| Urinary Tract Infection ?? I was searching YT to find an explanation for Mavrick's piddle problem. Night before last he was walking from the kitchen to the living room and there was a trail of pee where he walked. I first thought my son had dribbled from a glass, but it happened again the next morning on the way outside. Needless to say I went all to pieces thinking something is severely wrong with him. We have just adopted him from a rescue group and he is on special food for urinary health. I had no idea that a UTI would make him do this. I plan to take him to the vet in the morning. He does not seem to be in any discomfort. Wouldn't a UTI make him act sick? I put a belly band on him, we purchased two prior to picking him up. His last owner surrendered him due to house training issues. I bet they punished him for this. He can't help it!! He acts like he has done something wrong and hides when you get a paper towel to clean it up. We are so in love with him. I don't want him to be sick!

| Our Jack Russell was neutered about two months ago. He just recently had a urinary infection and it caused him to wee wee in the house because he could not make it outside. Other than the wee wee problems he seemed fine. We took him to the vet and they gave him antibiotics for it.

| I would get to the vet and do a urinalysis with cult & sensitivity test. Also do not do a free catch urine sample. Let the vet do cysto. May need to prescribe antibiotics to clear a UTI. A UTI can cause protein dumping so you might want to do a UPC check also. These are tests that many do not have done and when they finally do them the kidneys are too far gone. I would do routine urinalysis and blood every single year. No reason to be alarmed. But if it were me, I would run these tests. My girls problems did not show up until I took them in for a dental and did blood work. I would have never know of the problems we have now as by "looking" at my girls you would never know that they have kidney problems with protein loss and loss of renal function. Incontinence with the urine dribbling or leaking would definitely prompt a vet visit. |

| Since the rescue group had him on a special food for urinary health, I assume he has some sort of condition/problem. Is he prone to uti's or stones? You need to find out his medical history and take him to your vet. He needs a complete bloodwork panel and possibly an ultrasound if the rescue didn't have one done. |

| Thank you all! Mavrick is on the way to the vet with his daddy. I want to thank you all for the great advice. It is all written down for Alan to discuss with the doctor. Mavrick still does not seem to be in any type of discomfort (thank God) and the pad in his WeeWee Wrap has remained dry. Please pray that this is nothing major. Thanks again!! Donna

| Mavrick is fine! Mavrick had a complete exam today including blood work and urinalysis. The Vet found absolutely nothing that alarmed him. He said Mavrick is a healthy 4 year old. At least now we know he does not have Congestive Heart Failure, Addison's, Cushing's, Renal Disease or Failure, or any kind of obstruction. There was no clouding or crystalization in his urine. We did not actually see him dribble, so now I am wondering if my 12 year old dribbled his drink on the floor !! When I wiped it up it did not smell like pee and it did not appear very yellow either. Oh well, I will ask him when he comes home from his dad's, if he can even remember. The good news is we now know Mavrick is healthy. Thanks all of you for your concern...now you know what a nut I am!! My family is used to it! "Better safe than sorry!" Donna

| Blood in urine Hi it has been a long time since I was on....My Kerrigan in not quite 4 yrs. old and she started urinating in the house in very very small amounts nothing like she would normally urinate. I told my husband 2 days ago it look light pink, but he insisted it was not. well a few minutes ago I found a spot in the bathroom floor that was only about the size of half dallor(which is what she has been doing lately) and it was very pink no denying it. She does not appear to be in pain or distress and seems to be eating and drinking fine. I am calling the vet tomorrow but I wondered if anybody had any ideas?? I am scared for her. Sh had one litter of 5 puppies almost 2 yrs ago and 2 of the males had liver problems one with a shunt that was surgically corrected. she herself was checked out surgically because her bile acid were abnormal however was given a clean bill. Any of your thoughts would be appreciated. Ladybird 1957 |

Exploratory surgery isn't normally the way a shunt is found because the vet wouldn't be able to see an intrahepatic shunt. A scintography could be done. Was a piece of liver sent for biopsy? Urinary issues are very much related to liver issues. If this is any more than a single UTI, she should probably be an a special diet and supplements meant for liver compromised odgs.
