| Do not punish them for accidents that they did in the past. The vet was very wrong. If you punish them for something you found a day later they will not know what they are being ounished for. Change Vets.

As soon as a dog does anything..it is gone from their minds. The owner comes home and finds a puddle on the carpet..the owner gets upset and points out the mistake, yells or what ever..the dog sees the puddle, but has no clue why we are upset...they do not put two and two together..if they act remorseful it is because our voices indict something is wrong...the first rule of housetraining is to get a rolled up newspaper...each time the puppy pees on the floor, smack YOURSELF in the head with the newspapers..in a few days YOU will have learned to confine them to an expen, use belly bands on males etc. when you can not watch them..Yorkies can be very hard to train and we have to stop the mistakes before they happen...once a puppy starts carpet peeing it is hard to get the odor out and they return to the same smells. Carry them around the house with you..room to room...have wee-wee pads in each room to start out. Never leave them alone unpenned..a nice size ex-pen is a safe area and they love their "dens" once they get used to them..I am not much for a small carrier or kennel...they will soil their beds if they do not have space...Yorkies have tiny bladders and can not hold it long. That vet is not the type you want...change and send a letter telling them why. I do not enjoy a spoiled Yorkie either, but getting upset at the vets is not a big deal to me...they are small enough to hold and most vets expect toy dogs to be nervous and afraid. If one of mine is crying and noisy, I just pat it's mouth and kiss it alot. It is hard for a Yorkie to cry if you are kssing their little Yorkie lips. LOL

I can't believe that vet. Wow...flick her in the mouth? I'd flick her in her mouth. My first vet visit the doctor basically loved on my pup and clipped his nails. She listened to his heart and felt his body like she was massaging him.. She didn't want him to have a bad experience his first visit. His next visit is next week when he will have blood work done and get his first set of shots. I'm supposed to take a sample of feces so she won't be doing a fecal at the office. Find a more compassionate person. I agree dogs are dogs and we are the masters, but they deserve respect too.

When Nina went to the vet for the first time, I was more nervous than she was. When the time came for the vaccine, I almost fainted. Nina didn't make a noise! And that's because the vet asked me if he could play with her a little bit. He treated my baby as a littly buddy. He inspired trust and friendship! Change vets... your baby doesn't deserve to be punished. I was mistold to punish my puppy when she had accidents. I did and she still not trained. Punishing her broke my heart and I could NEVER smack! That's awful! Could you ever smack your newborn human baby to shut him up? That's non-sense! I LOVE my baby soooo much that I have instructed EVERYONE who comes in contact with her to be nothing less than loving and respectful towards her. It's a personnal offense when someone hurts a puppy.

I agree...Nina IS a gorgeous yorkie! She looks like a little Ewok. Just put a hooded sweatshirt, give her a spear and put her in a village! I love yorkies that look like Ewoks...they're so cute. Maybe Yorkies that look like Star Wars characters evokes some sort of childhood thing for me...

I would immediately change vets. To me it sounds like the vet was being very inconsiderate and rude. You said it was Gracie's first visit, and what a horrible one by the sound of it. To be honest i think i would call the vet and tell them how rude she was with him and that they will never see you or your baby again. Even if the vet was having a bad day, it's no excuse for the way Gracie was treated. Hopefully you can find a vet that will be gentle and loving towards Gracie for her next visit!!!! Good Luck !!!

Wow, like everyone said change Vets. Im so sorry that first experience at the vets was so awful. I hope you find a great vet for Gracie soon. You should let that vet know that you are very dissapointed of her treatment to Gracie. Gucci visits at the vet have being great. We have being at the vet almost twice a month due to her ringworm. The vet always caress her and says good girl etc. She always tells me that Gucci is a cutie and she knows that she runs the house, lol.

Hi Lickthestar - at the petshop, everybody tells me how funny she looks... She's got this really goofy look and some sarcams to her... I always think that she can tell what I'm about to do and she probably laughs at me... Your puppy is also a sweetheart! How old?
