| The Advantix is the flea med that the vet said washes off easily. She said we'd have to use a specific type of shampoo if we'd want to use that one. I see my vet on or around 1/27 for Carter's second dose of kennel cough vaccine. I'll ask her more then. Lisa

| Thank-you so much for all of your great ideas! We are going to work as a family this weekend to get everything sprayed and puppy washed, hopefully we will get it all this time. Thanks also for the name of a puppy flea shampoo name that you know is okay because a vet used it! Makes me feel a little more comfortable. Thanks again :-) Annie and Tinkie |

| The kennel cough vaccine is to prevent kennel cough. We felt it was better to vaccinate to prevent than to chance it.

| the vaccine doesnt ensure that your dog is immune...... there is a chance they could still get it, whether they got the vaccine or not........ My toby had the vaccine as well,...... but then he got kennel cough..... the vaccine typically only guards against a few of the viruses involved (usually only bordatella (sp?).... but there are SEVERAL different viruses when brought together cause kennel cough...... so in short, just because you guard against one of the "culprits" doesnt mean they cant get it |

| Be careful with the shampoo, make sure it says puppy. A lot of flea shampoos have chemicals that are not good for small animals. The key I think everyone has hit on is to keep steam cleaning your carpets, and doing the furniture as well. If you keep up with it for about a month you should clear the carpet and furniture. I know it sounds like a lot, but when I first moved into my townhome, the person who owned it before had ferrets, and the carpets were covered with their lfleas by the time I moved in. I do not like using the chemicals on the carpets because my pets will be on them. So every week I steamed and cleaned and it cleared up in about a month. Also there is such a thing as a flea comb for dogs and it works very well. Good luck! |

| Sentinel is the best The best pill to control fleas is the Sentinel, it takes care of fleas, heartworm, and other worms. It is a little expensive but is worthy. Since my puppy is only 2 pounds now I gave him half of a pill once a month from the dose 0 to 10 pounds. When I got him he had some fleas so I took him to my veterinarian and put him on Sentinel about a week after he wasn't scratching anymore and he was relax free of fleas. I was afraid of the dose too but like I said I started with half of the pill when my puppy gain a little weight then he can start taking the whole pill. He is now happy and playful. |

| We used Advantix for the longest while and it worked fine. Now we can't find it in our area. We are using Front Line Plus, but I don't think it lasts as long. When we lived in the North these products worked better and longer. I think since I'm in the South, we don't have lots of freezing so things don't get killed off. |

| My puppies are too young to use flea and tick shampoo. My vet told me to use Dawn dishwashing liquid. It works. Still have to vacuum often though. |

| If u want to use a natural flea control diatomaceous earth is real good one. Make sure u use the food kind. Not pool kind. Go to the health food store an get it. Or go to this site earthworks . It works . An u don`t have to worry about chemcials. I don`t use flea powders on molly. There are several sits that u can read up on this diatomaceous earth. Real interesting. |
