| ![]() I see I have many pages and links to read. Maybe I read some things wrong here...but....chicken, pork, WITH bones??? I thought bones sliver and can cause damage?? Eggs? Raw or cooked? With the shell, noooo, you mean broken open. Like I said, many many pages to read here, lol

| ![]() Thank you for the reply. I can't read all these pages, lol, so I'm going to ask questions and I'm sorry if they have been already answered. Protein can be a problem for these little ones. How do you know they are not getting too much protein? Also, is there a site somewhere that lists all foods that are able to be given to our furbabies? I'm really worried about the bones. chicken bones are small, they don't lodge in their throat? And pork bones are ok? hmmm, they seem sharp. Thank you for replies

| ![]() I'm kind of confused about the whole thing, honestly. What's the difference between a Prey Model diet and just regular raw diet? Are they both just pieces of raw meat that you give your dogs... and that equals their meal for the day?

The Many Myths of Raw Feeding Quote:
A prey model raw diet is more specific. If I were to say a I fed a raw diet, that could mean a premade raw like you buy at the pet store. Prey model means actual raw whole items like a chicken leg or a beef heart etc. Premade raw is general a mixture of the meat, organs liver and bones all ground up and most premade raw also includes some veggies. A prey model feeder would not feed veggies and would not generally grind up meat either although in some situations, it might be done. (ie an elderly dog with no teeth). Hope that makes sense. | ||

| ![]() oh oh have a problem. I started the prey diet for Jemma on Saturday. Started with chicken, bone and all. Her stool is very very hard. This morning I saw a taint of fresh red blood. Bright, not dark. Also her stool has kinda white in it. Bone? Wondering if they are kinda nicking her rectum as she tries to poo. Was is her stool so rock hard. I'm starting to feel terrible about starting her on the prey model.

| ![]() I got my baby about a month ago and have been doing research for the past couple of weeks on this diet and only have a couple more questions before I am ready to take the plung ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 1. if you've had a puppy this small and what you did or what you think about the plan to grind until she gets bigger 2. what you think about the supplements and if you can recomend anything when it comes to that??? As for how much to feed...it's 2% of their adult weight right??? Thanks in advance for any info you can give me. ![]()

I am so sorry! I thought I had answered all of your questions on the other thread. Since your baby is so small, I would definitely grind. I'll let others chime in, but I think that would be your best option. Many meat grinders out there even grind bone! Again, a prey model raw diet is completely balanced. Giving supplements will UNbalance causing potential problems. The only thing we add is salmon oil for the omega-3s to make their skin and coat soft and shiny. Lastly, the general rule is 2-3% of expected adult body weight but since she is a puppy and SO tiny I would probably feed closer to 4%.

| ![]() how do i figure out the ratio...80% meat, 10%bone? do the parts come in that ratio; for example if i feed a chicken leg or a beef rib...does it work itself out to fit the requirements? if not, can someone give me an example so that i am not driving myself crazy trying to work out ratio every meal with the meat and bone? it may sound like im going a bit overboard with it ![]() ![]()
