| Donating YT 11K Club Member | oh no. I fear this mange you guys are talking about London may have. I made a thread like 2 days ago about it cause i notice her hair looks thin, not bald but just not the same idk her hair has always been thin to begin with but now it just looks thinner. She also has scabs in like 2 spots, very little but it's there. I thought it was just cause of food but now im scared it may be this

our vets thought for 17 months that Daisy's was contact rash,,or hot spot,, as hers is not typical, ,was a tiny tiny place on her back when we brought her home at 10 weeks,, it went away,, came back ,went away, ,came back, ,over and over for months and months,, then back in October,, it got big as a quarter,, then grew larger and larger,, vets still thought Contact Rash,, still right up until I ASKED him to test it somehow,, he said he could do a skin scrape,, see if he could see anything,, parasite or bacteria,, but he still really thought contact rash,, he came back within minutes,, SO apologetic,, as he said "Never in a thousand years would I have thought this,, but Pam,, Daisy has Demodectic mange!" heres looked nothing like the typical you see,, not in the general places on her body,, she only had the one spot,, but it got so much larger so quickly,, (6 weeks),,just wish we'd discovered what it was before it got so big,, still she didnt loose hair like most do,, but the Demodex Mite is very recognizable,, looks like a little alligator,, BTW,a skin scrape only cost $17 at my vet and he is higher than most all vets in this area on everything,, sooooooo,, best of luck,, keep us posted!!

| Well guys, I've been watching this thread, so I took Indigo back to the Vet about the hair loss on her legs (I took her in about a month ago due hair loss but they would do a skin scrape). The Vet said that she didn't think it was demodex mange, I had to be really insistent with her about doing a skin scrape. The Vet finally receded and did the skin scape test, and it came back Negative! Yah!! she told me to it was just her puppy coat shedding and to get an omega 3 supplement. I'm so relived. To the OP, I hope everything works out with you and your pup. |

| Well, Miko went to the Vet on Friday and he doesn't have anything wrong. The Vet said it is his Hair changing silly me. I was so sorried but she examined his scalp and pulled the hair back to so me there were no signs of scabing and irritation. She even showed me his contact hair to his scalp. I felt so silly I need a set of glasses. But I would like to thank you all for your advise and support. Your help was greatly appreciated and also educational to me. Again Thank You all. |

Maggy May is doing good, she isn't liking me putting the med on her head everyday and fights me on it, who'd have every thought it'd take two people to hold a 2 pound 8 ounce squirmy butt still just to put ointment on her, lol. She goes back to the vet on Monday for a re-check, supposed to get her second shots then as well but that may very well be put on hold until this is cleared up. I'll let ya know what they say though.

| okay, this thread started to worry me because Kash is 13 weeks old and has thin hair on the top of his head... so, i googled "demodectic mange" and the photos are horrific!! Kash's head does not look anything like the dogs in the photos that had the mange. but Kash has an appointment for shots on saturday, so i'll ask the vet about it then... i don't feel extremely worried about it, but it won't hurt to ask. the whole rest of his body is fine (no hair thinning or loss). on the contrary, he has very thick hair everywhere else!
