Hair Loss I think my 10wk old puppies hair is thinning on top of his head. At first I thought it was his new hair comming through at a silver color and it is. But it just seems like it is thin. Is might be that it just looks that way because the new hair is growing in. Does anyone else have this issue or have you experienced this with your puppy. |

Here, Here, my puppy is 16 wks old and having to same problem, I'm about to order a supplement, doing some research first. I've also notice that the hair on my pups legs is shedding, not bald but the fluffy hair is gone, do they actually lose the puppy hair? How does the new hair color change over happen? Does it shed out or just change? |

I just had Maggy May to the vet because of some other issues she was having but she had a spot on her head that looked like the fur just wasn't there as much as it should be. I kept an eye on it and it seemed to have gotten a bit worse so while at the vet the other day, they did a skin scraping and found she had some demodex mites on her!:( She's on meds for it (it's an ointment) and she has to be on it for a month. I'd research it on the Internet and then perhaps talk with your vet about it. From what my vet told me and from what I've research on it, it's passed from the Mom to the pups right after they are born. Pups with a low immune system are not able to fight these off and keep them in check, but healthy pups can. Good luck to the both of you, I hope your furbabies don't have these. |

I hope he doesn't have any real bad issue. Its not going bald it is thin, not af full as the rest of his body. he is scheduled to go to the Vet on Friday. I will ask her then. His silver hair is coming through so on his head his roots are silver and his ends are black. I will keep it under observation until we get to the vet. |

Your puppy's hair is probably just changing over to his adult coat. Generally the hair is thinner than puppy fur. He's just growing up. :p |

Might be going through some growth changes. I too thought both my babies were going through "thinning" on top of their heads at one point, but, it was just their natural progression. Maybe consult w/ your vet? What are you feeding? |

With thinning on the head and legs, I would definately get your pup checked for mites. |

He is just thinning on the top of his head. His face is color is lighting up to, it is turning a light tan color, it is not as golden tan as when is was younger. I will ask the Vet on friday to check him, I will rather be safe than sorry. |

well, as for Maggy Mae's size,, i had my Cricket spayed after she was a yr old,, she still was less than 3 pounds,, but knowing she was too tiny,, to risk a breeding,,also each heat cycle they come in greatly increases their chances of mammary cancers,, i had her spayed,,i personally DO recommended Laser surgery,, which i did on Cricket but did normal surgery with Daisy and i so regretted it for a few days,, as she had pain Cricket never had,, but also, she was coming into heat,, but yes,, i've read long and hard and researched after getting the Demodex confirmed,, and it doesnt come from poor conditions,, it is present in every dog just comes out in some with immunity problems,, which Daisy had when we got her,, she had NO bacteria, ,no good OR bad,, none,, took us a while,, but she is all gold healthy as a horse and half the size of some, lol, (shes our TeaPot at 9.5 lbs),,,so too big to breed anyway,, but she is a real lover,, and we love her!! she is currently doing very well,, the mange is totally gone ,, she never really lost hair,, i cut it really really short at the site to let air to it and put the ointment on,, but her hair is back to normal now,, but for the coloration of the site is different than the rest of her,, so where she used to have a blond spot,, she now has a black spot,, ,, if there are any concerns or questions i possibly could help you with, ,i'll be happy to,, feel free to PM me if you wish,, best of luck to ya!:) |
