No poopie! Hey all, Need some help, my furbaby Tobie (15 mo) hasn't pooped in 3 days! He tried this morning but nothing came out. His appetite hasn't changed and he ate some chicken last night, but still NO POOP! I looked on the internet about constipation in dogs and they say to try canned pumpkin. This is a first for me! Anyone out there ever have this same experience, and if so what did you do that helped! Starting to get worried. Thanks, Tobie's mommy

yes canned pumpkin works great! make sure it is PURE pumpkin.. no spice... give him about a tsp if you can (Layla hates it) and this should help get things moving... he is clearly constipated since you said he has Tried to poop but can't.. poor little man... give that a shot and if it doestn' work you should call your vet.

I also make sure my girl gets enough water. I either put a little chicken broth in water to make it enticing or I add a little extra water to her food. Are there any of signs of illness, in case there is a blockage?

he LOVES water so that's not a problem for him and he doesn't seem any different than he normally is. I sent my roomate out for some pumpkin since I'm at work so we'll see if that works. He's eating fine, no changes than just no poop!

| Definitely try the canned pumpkin (and make sure you get the 100% pumpkin..not the pie filling). It is a regulator and helps with both constipation and diarrhea. If you notice any other things wrong with him...not eating, lethargy, vomiting, etc. it could be possible he has a blockage

Wondering if you have had any luck yet on 'operation poop watch' Maybe a walk around the block would help encourage it.

Don't know...my roomate is at home w/ him today and I emailed him to take Tobie for a walk to see if that would help, in addition to trying the pumpkin, so I'm anxious to get home from work to see if there is any progress. I'll keep you guys posted.

ok, so here's the poopie update. WE HAVE POOPIE!! I tried the pumpkin last night, but that didn't quite do the job, so someone suggested I try a infant/child suppository after I'd called the vet and set up an appt for tomorrow morning. Stopped and got some and it wasn't pleasant, but got it where it needed to go, and an hour later - yup...poopie balls! Still going to the vet to get him checked over to make sure nothing else is going on, but he seems to have more pep in his step!
