| I haven't gotten Ranger to the vet yet ( I just started a new job) but I did shave him. It was my first time ever to use clippers so he was just as scared as I was. But after two nights he's shaved and looks decent for the most part. The legs haven't lost any more hair and I found what looked like a bite on his hind leg (we had an invasion of fire ants and even I got bit twice). I could tell that he had been nibbling on it, but it went away over the weekend and he has quit biting. I couldn't see the bite until I had shaved him b/c the rest of his hair was pretty long and thick. So now Ranger is silver and hopefully all the hair will grow back in. If his condition doesn't improve then it will be mentioned when he gets neutered in the future. Thanks for your concern and suggestions!!

Did you ever find out what this condition was, because I think the same think is happening to my yorkie mix, except it goes up higher! I'm very worried! It's very strange -- and it happened so suddenly! It doesn't seem to be catchy because the same thing is not happening to her sister -- they're together all the time.

Lady coco has very few hair in her chest and head. Im trying everything, even changed food, the hair in the head looks better, but not long enough for her age (9 months). Will the hair grow longer???

Hazel has been experiencing the same problem. It started when she was about 9 months old. She started to lose hair on her hind legs and then it started to spread to her trunk, as well. Just a couple days ago ( she is now 1 year old ) her skin on her belly became discolored, a light blue/grey, as if she's bruised. Now, she has been itching and biting so it may be because of allergies. But I'm worried it could be a skin condition altogether. I do not clip her hair at all. Do you think that I should, and has your Yorkie experienced any discoloration with the hair loss?

My Ruby started itching when she was 5 months old and I scheduled her with a dermatologist. Within 3 weeks after that, before we could even make it to her first appointment, her hind legs started balding (see attachment). The dermatologist has confirmed that this is caused by her scratching and biting and we're now on week 11 of a dietary food trial to determine exactly what she's allergic to. Fortunately, it hasn't gotten any worse and her leg hairs are seeeeeemingly starting to get a little bit longer again.
