| Sentinal versus Interceptor? One does heartworms and other intestinal beasties, and the other does all the worms plus flea med. Remember, I live in Flea Country. I need to do something for the little dude, and the vet pushes both of these, with priority placed on Sentinal (because of the fleas). Hoping to stay "chemical free" may not be a possibility given our locale. Anything REALLY bad about either one? |

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | My vet said Sentinel is not enough in Florida. He is from Cape Coral, Fl. and when I take Bella down in April every year he says i sould use advantix for additional coverage but i am not fond of chemicals and if thats what it takes then we are not making the trip to Florida this year.

| http://www.ah.novartis.com/products/...sentinel.shtml Interceptor is fine. That I what I use. Lufenuron (same ingredient in Program) is probably fine also. I have never used it. I am not sure of the side effects but it is supposed to work well. The only thing is your animals can still get fleas with lufenuron. The fleas cannot reproduce though. So somethimes people end up using Program with another flea preventative. I'm sure your vet will have some suggestions.

| Fleas CAN get to be really bad here; we don't have "winters" to kill the little beasties off like folks up North do. But I don't anticipate the pups being outside all that much: they will be very pampered members of the family, not kennel dogs. I will go so far as to do Sentinal (if approved by the consensus opinion as being safe), but stop at other chemicals. They can have more frequent baths, if it comes to that . Thank you for your input. |
