| When Kela got her puppy cut. They cut her nose, bum, ears ( I had to ask them to cut those), and feet. I didnt want too much off her feet so they cut just to bottom. But they look ALOT off of her nose. Make sure you tell them that you just want the hair taken away from his eyes or they will cut half way down the nose. But she looked really cute after!!

| The best thing to do is look through the photo gallery and see what you like. Make a list of what you want and be specific when you talk to the groomer. Every groomer does it a little different. If you dont tell them exactally what you want, you may get a shock!

| Be sure to go in knowing exactly what you want and be able to tell the groomer that. A "puppy cut" just means a shorter cut - but how short is up to you, as well as the face shape, whether or not you want ears tipped, bangs or no bangs, topknot or no topknot, etc. So go in knowing what length you want left on the body (1 inch, 1 1/2 inch..) and it helps to have a picture of how you want the face to look because there are so many ways to cut the face. Let the groomer know if you want the ears tipped or not. Let them know where you want the hair trimmed around the eyes if you are wanting that trimmed.

| Tipping the ears means shaving the top part of the ear (normally about 1/4 - 1/3 of the ear). It give the ears a clean and neat appearance. Tipping the ears is the common thing to do - as in a yorkie being shown would have its ears tipped. Here is a closeup picture of Lacy - not the best pic but you can see that her ears are topped.

| I am a groomer and if some one comes to my shop and asks for a puppy cut , I start asking the questions. I want directions in detail as to what they think they want. And if I do not get a clear answer I keep asking questions until I know what they want even if they had no idea how to tell me. It is not that I can't make their dog look its best , it is that I want them to get just what they want. So if you ask for the puppy cut and the groomer does not ask you lots of questions, you better start talking. Puppy cut is a generic term, used to cut dogs short, how short is up to you and if you do not speak up it is then left up the the groomer and who knows what you will get then..... Best of luck to you. Owner Best Friends Pet Salon Salem Oregon |

| As someone else mentioned, find a photo that you really like and take it with you to the groomers so there is no mistake on how short you want it.
