| ![]() V - I just posted in another thread to be sure to check the blade temp when trimming. I didn't know that the blade could get so hot. ![]() Petsmart sells a product in a spray can located near the trimmers that you can spray on the blade periodically to keep it from getting hot. It really works and my babies no longer get burnt. Next time you trim, you might want to touch the blade with your finger to check the temp. You'd be surprised. I was soooo glad that a groomer told me.

| ![]() There are two ways to get clipper burn, one is to have hot clippers. Be sure to check the temp of the clipper on your arm or with your finger to make sure the blades have not heated up. There are cooling sprays you can buy to keep this in check. 2nd and most important clipper burn can be caused by the angle you set the blade to the skin. The clipper should be parallel to the skin, if you tip the clipper to much you will be placing the teeth against the skin and it can dig in a bit and cause clipper burn. The clippers should never touch the anal area, just set them gently down on either side of the anus. And then some dogs skin is just very sensitive and maybe a longer blade length is best. But remember, a longer blade has more open teeth and can cut skin easier. If you find yourself hurting your dog to often maybe it is best left to a professional. |
