Be Careful when using your Trimmers - Battery or Electric - if you shave too close ...you can cause Razor Burn... I'm posting this because I just DID this to my baby Chanel.

I've groomed my girls myself for the last 2 years and never done this but I did yesterday. I was trimming Chanels little booty and must have trimmed too close or didn't do it the same as I usually do and she woke up with a really hurting Razor burn on her hiney !

I feel TERRIBLE - I think when she peed it burned the skin & that's when I could see something was hurting her and checked and saw a little Raw Spot -

I just wanted to post about it so everyone is careful even with the safest trimmers. Man I feel so bad - I put a little Neosporin Pain Relief Cream on it and that helped - but watch those trimmers so this doesn't happen to you. I was very gentle and still don't know HOW I did it - but I did ...and she has a sore little booty because of me today.

Awwww poor Chanel. Vaseline would be good also V it will coat the booty area so when she does pee it won't get into the redness.
I groomed Buddy all last winter using the trimmers. I was a wreack the first few times. I had my SIL show me how to use them. I was afraid of taking off his you know what

Awwwww, poor baby. Tell her Meiah is sharing her pain

I just did it too the other day. Shaving her belly (as she fell to sleep in my lap while I was doing it) Just alittle, but I had no idea it happened! There was no mark there at all.

A day later there a little bit of scabbing and she was licking it.

So I know what you mean!!!!! I felt sooo bad too!!!!

I did that too to poor Roxy 'p-private' area...

I felt so bad. She went a whole day b/c I couldn't get her to the Vet. She was 'scooting' around the WHOLE house 24/7. On the title, the hardwood floor, the rugs. And she was SO MAD too - she would make these grunting noises.

Oh, I felt horrible! I took her to the Vet and he rubbed her down with something, gave her a shot and gave me some antihistamines for her, OH and a BILL for $70

...LESSON LEARNED HERE

Oh Vee - Been there done it..felt so bad

. Bagbalm which you can get at just about any drugstore is great. It was invented for dried cow udders but people fell in love with it for their hands. I like it because if the dogs lick it, it won't harm them.

Thank you !! I feel so bad - she keeps kissing me so I know she sees how bad I feel - I'm carrying her around cause I can tell she wants to scoot on it and it's red and raw looking....kind of like a blister that breaks ??

it's right under her tail.

I'm going to go get some of that - the neosporin seems to only work for a short time and I can't find any vasaline -

Vee I did this with Isabelle once.

I was shaving her little hiney and it bled a tiny bit. Only for a second, but I felt SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad. I've never shaved that close to the hiney hole again.

Ouch! That has got to hurt! Poor Chanel

. You know what might be soothing on it is some tucks pads or witch hazel in a cotton ball (which is what is in tucks).

Did that before too but not on her tusch...thats why i cant do it, afraid of hurting them.

Me too. I can't believe she didn't react yesterday - ususally I do 3 little Gentle swipes with the trimmers & go under the tail a bit - I must have held it differently yesterday cause this is the first time she got a razor burn - but that skin is so sensitive it may as well be a REAL burn

...my poor baby....I can tell it really hurts.... I'm so mad at myself.

Poor little Chanel. I'm sure she forgives her mommy. Don't worry, she'll be ok. Maybe try putting a little vaseline on her booty. Give her kisses from me!!

Don't be mad at yourself! Remember, dogs love unconditionally. Could you imagine if she were a real human teenager? She wouldn't be speaking to you for weeks! LOL But our pups...forgive and forget in 30 seconds! That's why we love them so!

Here is the website which explains that it is also an antiseptic and helps heal. Hopefully you have seen these tins and it lasts a long time. I am a big believer of this product for the kids and myself.

that stuff looks great...I just went to the site and that helped cause now I know what it looks like...thanks Cindy - (I've MISSED You woman)

and thanks everyone else...I posted this so people wouldn't do what I just did but you guys are so sweet .... if Chanel could say thank you she would... but she only knows how to say "Mama" and "I want my Treat"

I still feel terrible though.
