| sedating dog for grooming??? I've had Jaxon groomed a couple of times now. The place I normally take him is great - they do a nice job and they're quick. Only problem is they book up at least a month ahead! The last time I took him to the vet since they now offer grooming too. When he got home (4 hours later), he just wasn't himself and then had really running poops that night, almost like when he had teeth pulled and they used anesthesia. Do you think they could have sedated him without my permission????

| i dunno that's a good question, it could be they gave him food or treats and they did not agree with his system..... and him not acting like himself could be because of a upset tummy or just the enviroment you know the noise factor, strangers in and out and the various dogs....dunno y not call and ask? |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | its possible but i really doubt it. In order for them to use anesthesia on your dog you have to sign a waiver stating that you know the risks involved. Or at least if they are having a problem with him they should have given you a call to ask what you wanted to do. you pup just might have been exhausted from all the excitment of being at the vet's.

| I think you need to call and ask but yes many grooming places slip ACE to dogs so maybe your vet did also. I would be surprised but not shocked. If I found out my grooming salon was using ACE (a pill) I would be furious. Your little one could just be tired from all the action at the vets.

| I don't think they would have put him under anesthia b/c of the price and the waiver you have to sign, but they could have used something to calm him down. I would be very pissed if they did not let me know first no matter what it as they would use. I would call just to check and see if they gave him ANYTHING.... Maybe like someone else said they could have even gave him a food or treat that didn't react with him well and you would still want ot know what that would be just to know to steer clear of it in the future. | My guess would be NO, the would not sedate without telling you, much too risky. But, like someone else mentioned, they may have given him a treat that upset his stomach. |

| same That happened to my cousin's maltese once. The dog was fully trained and very playful and hyper. When she came back from the groomers, all she did was sleep and for days she would have accidents peeing around the house. We weren't aware of the groomers using any sort of sedation but we suspected it. I heard some bad groomers do it to dogs that don't stand still w/out notifying the owners! |
