That happened to my cousin's maltese once. The dog was fully trained and very playful and hyper. When she came back from the groomers, all she did was sleep and for days she would have accidents peeing around the house. We weren't aware of the groomers using any sort of sedation but we suspected it. I heard some bad groomers do it to dogs that don't stand still w/out notifying the owners!
