| Ear and Bang problems! A couple of weeks ago I took Trixie to a new groomer...well they totally butchered her. Her body has grown back in alittle bit making her look ok now, but they didn't trim her ears or the hair on top of her eyes. So now it looks like she has bangs and her one ear is flopping down now. Everything else looks fine and I really don't want to go spend another 40 bucks to take her somewhere else to get it fixed. I'm about at my wits end because the poor thing can't see her bangs are so long. If I put her bangs up with the rest of hair in a top knot it looks like her eyes are bugging out. I think I am going to just trim that myself...hopefully doing a good job But my biggest question is... If I left her ears alone until the next time I took her to get groomed (about a month) would her ear already be trained to be floppy? I'd just trim it myself but I don't know what to trim. I don't want to make her look silly. Any advice? |

| If you are not trying to grow out her bangs for a ponytail then just go ahead and cut them. Just look at pictures of other yorkies with bangs and copy them. Be conservative. Cut a little at a time. You can always cut more if you need to. How old is she? How furry are her ears? If you want to trim them yourself you shave (short not bald) the top third of each ear inside and outside and sissor trim the edges (point the sissors towards the tip of the ear not the base). It's really pretty easy.

| Getting your dog groomed can be a traumatic experience! We haven't been back yet since our bad experience, when they cut Ginger's bangs. LOL Perhaps we should switch groomers? Maybe with all of us wanting such different things, it's hard for them to always get it right! I'm beginning to realize (after reading tons of posts) that perhaps I was a little too hard on Ginger's groomer Howver, I've been trying to grow Ginger's bangs out forever...they're still too short to reach her pony... Good luck! |

Shamrock - If her ears are starting to flop I'd definitely trim them. I wouldn't want to risk it staying that way! I use a beard/moustache trimmer and just shave off about 1/3 of the hair on the front and back of her ears... And if you take off a little too much, remember it's just hair and it'll grow back eventually! | |
