| The groomer wants Holly's shot records before they groom her Is this a usual thing? The problem is that the lady who Holly was purchased from gave her own shots so I dont have a shot record. So. I decided to get a clipper with attachments and clip her myself. I used to cut hair for a living and I think I can do it. Question, has anyone ever seen a Yorkie with a clipper cut? I want to leave her forehead hair long cuz I want to put it up. The rest would be cut using the longest attachment. I have crochet a number of sweaters for her so she wont get cold and she doesnt go outside. Also, have you ever heard of a yorkie that gets car sick? Holly barfed on me like a sick 5 year old child. I wasnt happy.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | yes, it is custom to verify shots, specially for bordetella, distemper and so on, just to make sure you are not bringing a sick dog in. the lady should have given you a shot record, my son does all our vaccines for the puppies and I have records that go home with the puppies for any situation that requires it, specially how your vet knows how many and which shots your baby already has and which she still needs? also yes some dogs get car sick, my Yorkie Jack requires medication before a long car ride. Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Mine always calls the vet and verifies they are utd on shots. I groom myself now but not very good. I started after my shih tzu bit the groomer on the nose..after I told her to muzzle him. She thought he was sweet so took the muzzle off. lol

Freemerryjane - It's good that they want records. It's a safety precaution for them but also for us. It wouldn't prevent something like parvo (or fleas) spreading but still - it's better to know they require shot records before grooming a dog vs letting any dog get groomed who possibly has never had a vaccination.

| yea, it's normal for them to ask to make sure they won't get the other dogs sick. You should get a shot record from your breeder too, just to have. |

| Getting this dog was not my choice. I was given her to find a home for and I kept her instead. The breeder just wrote down what shots she gave her and at the time since the dog didnt concern me I just thought it was odd but oh well. Now that I need them sort of Im kind of mad about it. I really just want to know if a yorkie looks ok with a clipper cut. Im going to clip the backs of her legs and belly then leave the top long, like just to the bottom of her stomach. Its that her feet start making her look like a dust mop, a really cute one but a dust mop just the same. To be honest I Cant afford the $40 + a month to have her trimmed. I bathe her myself and I used to cut hair for a living so Im thinking I can make it look decent. Im gonna do my best then post the pics so you all can laugh. lol Im taking her to the vet wed for her ears as she is still scratching at them. I think its a yeast infection if thats possible.

| Have you taken Holly to your vet since you got her at 10 weeks? Holly has probably only had one round of shots and she'll need several more plus rabies to be fully immunized. If she hasn't had all her shots she could be at great risk for dangerous puppy diseases like Parvo which you can carry in on your shoes. If shots are started before about nine weeks, maternal antibodies from nursing block their effectiveness. They also need the last set around 18-20 weeks when the antibodies are completely out of their system to be fully protected. Dr. Dodd's vaccination protocol is an excellent one to follow. I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Joey's breeder gave him his shots too, but they were written in his contract, and the vet was able to use her records. I actually went to her for the last round of shots, because she wanted to insure only certain shots were given. If the breeder has given shots, you do not want the vet to give these same shots. Good luck with the grooming!

| A good groomer will ask for the shot records. Ask the vet what he thinks best and at least you will have a number to give to the groomer. As far as the cut, I think you should be able to manage the grooming. Practice makes perfect. Also some groomers give lessons for the same cost as a grooming session. Good Luck!! and please post pics

That's how I groom Buddy but his tail has about 2 more inches of growth on it. I love the dark back legs and the front legs golden. Bud's are both golden. Pretty puppy she is.
