| [QUOTE=erickajm;1858939]This guy is the owner/groomer. He wasn't ignorant...all he really said was she will be more comfortable now. He wont be in business long if he continues to upset customers. IT's not his right to determine if your dog will be comfortable.! He should have discussed his "pro" opinion with you before taking action. I hope you didnt pay him! What was his reaction to your being so upset? |

| oh my gosh Awwww, Im sorry for you both. i live in FL and the weird thing is, down here tons of ppl clip their yorkies like that. I dont know why exactly, maybe for flea control but I dunno for sure. I took my Duncan to a new groomer, told her EXACTLY what I wanted and when I picked him up, she did the exact opposite of what I told her. His legs were shaved and his skirt was gone, but his body hair was long. I was like WTH! Needless to say, he was mortified. And I was just plain pissed off. But...now it is growing back....sloooowwwwwly. So you are not alone. At least ur lil one is in high style in South FL! Feeling your pain, Elizabeth Duncan and Piper |

| i live in Pa too and i always get my yorkies shaved down like that, for one working full time and being a mother, i don't have the time anymore to brush them like i use to. Believe me their hair will grow back beautiful. i think your yorkie looks nice, i just put sweaters on them when they go outside and there fine.

| Well as an update: I think Zoe is eating this up! She and Peppee shared a crate at bedtime before this but with my feeling so bad I was bringing her...and peppee back to bed with me so she would stay warm..she is like my little shadow now. She is back to her normal self..until I put a sweater on her to go outside..she hates being dressed. She freezes and looks like you just broke her heart! So now I'm just waiting for it to grow back in....I guess one pro will be when she has her babies, her hair won't get in the way Thanks again!

ggggggggrrrrrrr! I am so tired of hearing this same horror story over and over. Groomers taking it upon themselves to decide what will make someone else's dog "more comfortable"!!! As everyone has said, I know it will grow out, and make a cute puppy cut - but, that's not the point!

| I see you are near Harrisburg. I know of groomer in the area that I trust, although I have started grooming them myself. (because I enjoy it and its much more cost effective). I do trust this groomer, however. If you are interested, send me a pm. As far as the hair goes, Ginger ends up getting a shave down every summer because of allergies. I've gotten used to it and she does look cute. BUT...the hair does grow back!!!!

| New Doo Comfort First, I want to let you know I understand. I was visiting in South Korea (we're military) and asked for a trim, well...something got lost in the translation and she was completely naked when I got her back. I mean she looked like my legs after shaving. She didn't quite know how to act, but once we were both over the shock, she got used to it and so did I. It took her a couple of days to get back to her normal self. I would tell her how beautiful she was and cuddle her alot in a nice, warm, soft, fuzzy blanket. One saving grace...they kept her ponytail intact. However, the short cut really grew on me (no grooming visits for at least 4 months, yep it was that short) and I've kept it short (not down to the skin short, but pretty close)ever since. After the initial cut, we had several folks ask if she were a Chinese Crested, ya know, one of 'em 'ere hairless dogs from China LoL. The benefits were: It was easier to clear up a few skin conditions she was having. Stateside, we live down south in a very rural area and I could spot the occasional critter on her immediately. Note to self, watch out for sunburn if it's still really short when the weather warms up. Her little t-shirts, sweaters and dresses fit better (vanity, but somehow, she knew she looked good regardless of the cut...even if she's too young to know about Sinead O'Conner). Keep you head up, remind her she's beautiful and don't go back to that groomer again. BTW, I'm learning to groom my baby myself... |

| It is the principal, would you like to take you long haired daughter in for a trim and have the stylist give her a pixie cut? Then have someone tell you it is just hair,it will grow back? |

| exactly! It is NOT JUST HAIR!! Groomers need to get out of that mindset...really ticks me off. If someone shaved my dog I would probably literally kill them! Which is why I would NEVER trust any groomer to come at my dog with clippers or scissors..I will always groom my dogs myself. I'm not willing for a groomer to make a "mistake" with my dog
