He did my last scope so he's basing his directions on that. Two whole days on clear liquids! Can you just imagine what fun days those will be? I'll be sick to death of broth and 7-Up, apple juice and lime jello!!! Oh, well, that's a ways down the road - I'll be worrying about that in a few weeks, haha. I guess my GI doc found a way to get my mind off worrying about radiation side effects, huh?

| YT 2000 Club Member | Jeanie, do not worry about radiation side effects. You will be fine. There is no pain involved. You just lay on that table and after a few prayers, it is done! The only concern you have is that your skin may have a little burn but it won't if you use that cream right after. Call a pharmacist or ask a radiologist what cream to use. You will breeze right through this! Another mountain to climb but you never go alone-the Lord will never leave you or forsake you. Your life is in His hands. We are not to fear but walk in peace knowing He has your footsteps directed. The worse thing is that you will miss Tibbe and he will certainly miss you! |

God watches over His children every moment. Sheila said she could feel His presence in the room with her, and she remained very calm. I filed a complaint with the Patient Advocate, and she replied, "That is not the way the doctor remembered it". So, their Patient Advocate's are useless. She loved our girls, more than her own life, and as much as I wanted to be in the Clinic with her, I knew, she would be stressed to the max, if I wasn't with our girls. Members of her MS Support Group were trying to reach her, to tell het to "Run, not walk away from Cleveland Clinic", but it was too late, Sheila was already undergoing the tests, which by the way, were useless because she'd had too many cleanses. No, we will never return there. Jeanie, you are always in our thoughts & prayers. Rich

Well, I'm stunned and haven't been online as I've been thinking and praying. Turns out the malignancy was extremely tiny, early and all of the malignancy was extracted by the needle biopsy and no malignancy seen in any of the lumpectomy tissue - at all!!! For this reason and my age and continuing hip and back problems and low grade osteoporosis, neither oncologist thinks I need either radiation or even Tamoxofen(sp?), given the odds in my case. I have a 4% less chance of getting a return of the malignancy on Tamoxofen at my age with my type of CA than I have if I don't take it. The odds are slightly better with radiation but not by much. They both like having the radiation as a card to play down the road should it be needed and think it is worth it to my health to not make me have the "overkill" of radiation right now. Apparently, the Tamoxofen isn't that much of a deterrent at my age with my type of tumor so they think the side effects would certainly come in to play. Anyway, I'm going to talk to the surgeon as they both are and we'll go from there. It's certainly good news as I didn't ever ask about the type of or grade of malignancy I had - I usually do better with something scary the less I know for a while. So these last two days hearing about how early on it was caught and how blessed and lucky I was to have had the screening mammogram when I did have really been a lesson in preventive medicine and a pleasant shock. My surgeon was more like "it's cancer so out it comes and the protocol is for radiation or mastectomy....period" and asked me if I wanted particulars and I said "No, not right now, please". She did tell me it was very low grade and I was certainly rewarded for getting the screening mammogram when I did and because of it, would have less trouble all along and left it at that until I was ready to talk to her about it. So, now, I'll call her and discuss the radiation and Tamoxofen and see what she thinks. I am so grateful to have caught this so early that I'm still a little shocked that I may not be getting further treatment and have got more thinking and consulting to do. I'll probably get a second opinion, too. But for now, I just don't want to do anything but sleep. haha!

Yes, it was an awful thing to go through and have my complaint not taken seriously. Sheila has a good friend in Florida who also has MS and said to Sheila one day, "I wish I could go to Cleveland Clinic" and Sheila told her, "No, I've been there enough times to tell you, that 1st, the neurologist I saw for the muscular problems in my legs, convinced my former neurologist that I did not have MS and 2nd, the G.I. Doc I saw there, just about killed me, running too many tests in 3 days". Thankfully, a top spine specialist here, called a top MS Specialist and told her, "You really need to see this lady". The MS Specialist didn't see patients that didn't have a definite diagnosis. But she saw Sheila immediately, and hugged her & promised her, "I will never give up on you". She ran one test to be certain Sheila didn't have "Stiff Person Syndrome" and the next month, she saw Sheila, and held her hands, and said, "Sheila, you have a rare form of MS". Sheila was so grateful for her diagnosis. Her DO is also excellent. And so is her new G.I. Doc. We've learned, the best doctors aren't necessarily at the so-called top hospitals. Sheila & I send you our love & hugs. We were both so relieved, that you don't need radiation, and we pray you will never need it ever in your life. Rich

| Jeanie, I am so happy to hear that your doctor feels they got it all and do not have to subject you to radiation and chemo at this time. That is fantastic!!! Good going. What a relief to know it was caught early and is now gone.

| Jeanie, I am very happy to read the wonderful news that the biopsy got all of the bad stuff and your oncologists do not think radiation or chemo are necessary. Excellent news! Praying that you do not need further treatment. Enjoy sleeping!

| I woke up this morning smiling at your good news Jeanie. You have been on my mind so much with all this, and it is fantastic to have a bit of relief. The YT prayer warriors have once again been successful it seems.
