First I must mention that your picture of Brewster is just darling and I can see how he has attached himself to your heartstrings. He is just beautiful ...

I will pray that he improves and that his lack of appetite is just due to his new surroundings. I know that the chix and rice is a good choice and hopefully this will stimulate his appetite to eat.
Please keep us updated on his progress ....

Thanks everyone!

Question....his weight went from 5.9 to 5.5 in 6 days. Is this a lot? Have any of you had these problems getting a new one comfortable at his new home & if so, what did you do? My hubby was talking about some gravy type sauce at the petstore to put over his food, but I am afraid it will upset his tummy. I am doing the chicken and rice today, but is that OK to give everyday? I have to get him to eat. I am trying sugar in his water today.

Poor little guy...what food did the breeder have him on?

He is still acting odd?

Don't waste your money on the gravey type sauce.

I would start him on chicken and white rice and see how it goes...

You don't want plain sugar in his water..

The breeder had him on Eukanuba and she said he was eating fine. She gave me some and he wouldnt touch it once he got here.

He ate about half of what I put out this morning of the prescription diet. I have not seen him go to water today.

He did drink some last night. Why no sugar in the water? I was told to try just little to see if he would drink. His blood sugar is fine, never has been low.

Did he ever get a fecal done? This is a priority I think. How does his eyes look?

What is the presciption diet?

I have never heard of putting regular sugar in a puppies water...and I still don't see a purpose as you know about Nutri-cal...Nutri-cal does have something in it to make little ones want to eat.

It is Prescription Diet---that is what the food is called. It has rice and turkey, it is canned food. hey gave me a prescription and I was able to buy it at the pet store. I give him Nutri Cal. The sugar would be to make him want to drink it because it is sweet a little sweet (I only put a teaspoon in it. He got one tiny fast drink a while ago. The Nutri Cal will not hydrate him--he needs to drink more. His fecal was normal, no parvo, blood normal & temp normal. Hopefully, he will scarf down the chicken and rice.

The prescription food is to make him want to eat...usually they scarf this down...

Still not sure about the sugar...

Hmm I will call a few people to see if they have any ideas. A puppy should be running around and causing havoc....and then crash and sleep and then wake up and start all over. They will sleep alot but usually the transition is very easy...

You can add a little Parmesan cheese on top of the food to also get him to eat too. Another thing that you might want to try is adding a little water to him food so that as he eats he will get hydrated that way as well. Did he recently have vaccines? You did also say that he is teething maybe that is what is causing him to not want to eat.

Good news. I made chicken and white rice tonight, no seasonings and took the skin off. He scarfed it!! I was so happy to see him eat, a lot! I did add water to it, thinking he would drink the water to get to the food, and he wouldnt touch it that way. So, I gave him a dry plate, just the chicken and rice, he LOVED it. (actually, they all did) This is probably a no no, but my hubby gave him his water with a tablespoon of the chkn broth added. He drank the entire cup.

Yes, a blood panel was done and everything was normal, except for the dehydration. I even had them do a parvo test, fecal was normal and so was his temp.

Hoping today is another step to him feeling well.

He got his rabies 1 week ago today. Good suggestion with the parmesan chz.
